Mexico for wls, anyone else done this?

I am considering going to Mexico for LapBand. My Ins Just will not cover this surgery. Has anyone else out there done this, if so , what was your experience like?Do they speak english, were they clean, etc.

Ive heard of several people going to Costa Rica for various surgeries. Many of the surgeons are American surgeons who say they do it because there is less red tape and they can make more money that way even though they also charge a lot less. As an example I heard of a 35000 dollar procedure being done down there for 8000 dollars. Plus you spent several weeks in a hotel that catered to people recovering from surgeries. The news report also stated that the surgeons were liscensed to operate in the US but chose to work in Costa Rica because of the lack of red tape.

I also thought about it,,,, BUT decided against it , I am sure there are some great doctors down there but , will you really know if yours is one ? Also I worried about if there were problems and having to travel ,,, and after care. DO lots of reasearch . You may find you can have the surgery you want in the states for not too much more. I self paid for my RNY and it was less than I thought it would be. Good Luck
