Medical conditions
I looked at the list of other medical conditions, but didn't see Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I have suffered with this condition for many years, as has my mom, so I am thinking some of it is heridtary(sp). I never considered how this would affect my chances for having the WLS. I have had all my tests (except the EGB which is next week) and now I find out my doc may not do it with this problem. He hasn't turned me down, but my gastro doc wants me to wait and see if we can get it under control first. Did anyone who is postop deal with this problem? I certainly don't want to add to the problem, or perhaps make it much worse. Is diarrhea a big problem after surgery? I am so ready to have this done, and everything has gone so smoothly until now. HELP!
I TO HAVE IBS. MY DR'S SAID NOTHING ABOUT THAT. WHEN I WENT FOR MY FINAL CONSULT WITH MY SURGEON HE SAID THAT THIS PROCEDURE MAY NOT HELP AS (IT SHOULD WITH MY DIABETES, BACK TROUBLE ECT.) BUT I DID REALIZE THAT WHEN I WAS ON WEIGH****CHERS ( REALLY COMPLIENT) I HAD LESS IBS IF I DID NOT EAT SALAD, POPCORN OR CORN OR ANY GREASY OF HIGH FAT FOODS. YOU MAY WANT TO TRY CUTTING OUT ALL OF THE KEY THINGS THAT CAN TRIGGER IBS SUCH AS THE ABOVE AND ALSO CAFFEINE. THIS WILL KNID OF GIVE YOU A BAROMETER TO TELL THE SURGEON SO THAT HE WILL KNOW THAT IF YOU ARE COMPLIET WITH THE GBS YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE THAT PROBLEM. HOPE THIS HELPS. TB
I personally would say my bowel , has become different due to the surgery and I have become less likley to be able to "WAIT" ,,, not alway diarrhea, but ,, well lets just say ... it comes about faster
But like the last post, when you start to eat better you will notice a BIG difference with the IBS, and since salads, rice corn etc.... will be out of your diet for awhile you may notice the IBS improving.
I always make sure I know where the toliet is in new places, when I have to go ... I really HAVE TO GO
