Hi,
I'm going through the DUKE WLS. Try their web site it's www.dukewls.org. It's very informative and lets your know the process that you would have to go through if you decided to go with them. I'm having my first appt on Oct 25th. I will let you know how everything was.

Thanks for your reply Stephanie
But I 'm looking for members that have already been through the surgery
If your first Appt is Oct 25 th , Then you are 3-6 months away from surgery, depending on amount of test amd your current health
My surgery at Duke is scheduled for OCT 31st
Looking for info from DUKE alumni that have info on Durham hospital and their stay and recovery
Good luck on your Journey
May all your test go smooth and your surgery move along fast
Which surgery are you having ?
Any Qoestions about pre-surgery feel free to ask
Hi Ed,
I had my surgery on October 5th. Everything seems to go just fine. I had no problems with my room or the facility. The nurses do check in on you alot overnight which disrupts your rest, but that is a good thing. My doctor was Dr. Portenier - nice guy. Acutally have not spent a lot of face time with the surgeon. Which could also be a good thing.
No complaints here!

Went through Duke WLS with Dr. Pryor over a year ago.
I had great support, pre and post op. Surgery went well. I had great care.
My one complaint? I saw the surgeon once the entire time in the hospital. Now, I know she was in contact with hospital staff because they would tell me she called and requested this...or asked that...but I had developed a relationship with her, I wanted to see her!
Other than that, everything went just fine.
Wish you well.
