I AM STRUGGLING! ANY HELP OUT THERE
I am on day 3 of my 14 day liquid diet, my surgery is 10/25. Although I am very excited to think that I am really on day 3 of the journey that I have been trying to go on for 3 years I think I was fooling myself thinking that this would be no big deal. I am hungry ( stomach & head) my head hurts, I have no energy. My family is probably ready to shove a cheeseburger down my throat. I am eating what Dr. Lowe said 6 carnation's a day 6 glasses of water and sf jello, sf popsicles and chicken broth. I can not find Vanilla Carnation anywhere. I have looked at all the stores around and I have called the others.Everyone has Chocolate and everyone has vanilla in the yellow box but of course i need the blue box. I live in Concord so if you see any in my area please let me know. I have not tried the Vanilla but I think that it would be easier to drink these shakes if I had a variety. Any suggestions from those that have gone before me would be appreciated. Please don't get me wrong I would stand on my head and put nothing in my mouth for 14 days if that is what was needed to make this happen. My Dr's office tells me that it gets easier after the 3rd day. Is that true?
Tammy,
I promise it does get easier. Dr. Lowe is a GREAT Dr. and he is right that it get's easier. I can tell you that the only place I found the vanilla was at Walmart but I live in the Lincolnton area. I also think I saw it at Bi-lo. But also, it doesn't have to be CIB. I can be any type of protein shake. Dr. Lowe told me that. The have Whey Protein for $11.00 at Walmart that mixes good with berrys or fruit when put in the blender. You might try that. Also, I drank lot of fat free creamed soups before and after the surgery that helped me feel fuller. I promise is does get better but the first few days are hard. You could NOT have picked a better surgeon and he will take excellent care of you. I really love Dr. Lowe and would tell anyone to go to him. Also, for the headache I took rapid release tylonal (sp) and it worked great. I knew that was the only thing I could take after the surgery so I used it before to get prepared. Good luck to you and well wishes on your surgery.

Hi Tammy,
For me it was true! Things got easier after 3 days..I must admit I did get tired of broth and jello. Thank god for the SF pops, they made it all worth while. My doctor was alittle different I was allowed no sugar added applesauce also which gave me alittle variety. Are you allowed to have tomato soup?

Fuzzy Navel or Roadside Lemonade, both made by Nectar, were both allowed by my surgeon, pre- and post-op...in fact, post-op I could not handle anything with milk, and still can't, after 13 months...so the Nectar saved me!
HTH...good luck..it does get easier and it is SO worth it!!
