WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!
Ive been trying to have WLS since late February. Ive been very proactive and really did my best to help things along. Still it has been a very slow arduous process.
Two months ago I mentioned WLS to a cousin. Well she decided she was going to have it done and went and got a 2nd mortgage and her surgery date is less than a week away!!!!! I guess money talks and BS walks....lol.
I will file an amendment to my insurance request tommorrow. I wrote a 4 page letter and followed up with 30 plus pages of documentation, including a strong recommendation from my nutritionist and psychotherapist, as well as proof of membership at a local gym, etc etc etc.
Wish me luck in this please.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!! I think it is gastly that medical decisions that are made about your body, decisions that your Dr., Nutritionist, & Psychologist and of course yourself all agree upon are disregarded because someone sitting in an insurance company reading over a manual deems as not approved. I was blessed that BCBS approved me hours after my paperwork was sent to them. I do agree that every person considering this surgery needs to know that it is not the easy way out as I have heard from so many people since I have begun my journey. I do agree you should have all the eval's required. This is not a procedure for the weak of heart or the weak on mind. It is definately a life altering experience. ( I am still 12 days away from surgery but I am on the 3rd day of my liquid diet. I see what will power you have to have even now) . So again good luck I hope all works out for you. Tammy B
