Can anyone HELP??
I was told by my doctor's office that my Ins. required me to have a 6 mths weight history at the time I only had 3 months with my pcp. So she told me that I could get the other 3 months from the doctors that I would be doing all the testing before surgery and that would help speed things along. Now after 3 months has past and i havent been to my pcp in 2 months someone else at this surgeons office tells me that what I was told was NOT correct that they can not count the weights that i just got as part of the 6 months. that I need to have gone to my pcp (the same doctor) for my 6 month history. So I guess my question is Does anyboby know which is correct or how can I find out.?
Bless you
Insurance is a nightmare.
Depending on your insurance you might be back at your first month as many ask for six continuous months on a supervised diet. Even with 6 months on a supervised diet I had to go back and document another months worth just to satisfy someone at the insurance company.
I would go ahead and turn it in in three months and hope for the best. If they dont approve you then dont give up. Thats what the insurance people want you to do.
Hi there.. I am 6 weeks post op and had Cigna for insurance. They require 6 months supervised diet with your pcp before approval. I went every month for 6 months and sat down with my pcp and discussed my weight, exercises that I was doing and through those six months we discussed different food options and this and that. It took all of 15 minutes each visit. The insurance companies are very serious about this though and will look at the notes. They want to see more than weigh ins. I was right on the line so I couldn't afford to acutally lose any weight during those six months but my pcp worked with me and I was approved after the first letter. Just make sure you, your insurance co and your pcp are all on the same page and understand what you need. It's all about approval and your pcp SHOULD help you with this. If not, I would consider changing your pcp. Hope this helps...
HI Joy,
I can imagine what your going through. I had sent my surgeons office 8 yrs worth of my medical records whcih had all my diets and diet medications I was on and I just got a call Thursday from the surgeons office telling me that the insurance Co wants my last 2 yrs of more supervised diets and all medications I was one.
I could not for the life of me understand this! When I gave them 8 years worth!!
So now I have to go through all my medical records AGAIN and send them what I have plus I had to call my pcp from where I use to live and have them send more info to them. I am so upset with this and now I have to wait to hear back on what is going to happen next. Belive me my heart goes out to you because dealing with the insurance is a big pain and its so true about them wanting you to give up.
Just keep on fighting them, you have the right to get what you want.
I came too far to let them get me down, but I will fight till the end to get this surgery.
Good Luck to you Joy and I will pray you get passed this and everyhting turns out alright. God Bless You
