Feedback on Charlotte surgeons and hospitals
I went to DrMelkonian and love him My friend had surgery with him 5 years ago which is why I decided to go to him. I also hear great things about DrLowe as well who is also in his same office. At the time I went for surgery the Presby program was being redone so I was only at the presby hosp office once and have since seen DrM at his own office. His staff was wonderful and he is very patient and answered all my questions. I had a smooth surgery and have been doing great since! I havent thrown up or dumped once and havent had much in the way of food intolerances. Overall its been an excellent experience. I had my surgery at Presby hosp uptown.. I was there for 2 nights and the CNAs that were assigned to me were GREAT! I had an older lady and a younger girl... both helped me out soooo much and constantly checked to see if there was anything I needed/wanted. They also gave me praise when I would get up and walk around and helped to keep me motivated
I can't tell you enough good things about Dr. Carl Lowe at Carolina Surgical. He works out of Presbyterian and the nurses there are wonderful. I had a complication of scar tissue blockage and had to be re-admitted 4 times and the care I received at Presby. was great!!!!!!! Dr. Lowe is very caring and takes as much time as you need to answer all your questions. Even with my complications I would do it again in a minute and I would choose Dr. Lowe again a thousand times!!! For me he was the best surgeon choice!
Good luck with your journey and please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
Shannon
I have to second Shannon's thoughts on Dr. Lowe. I was impressed with him from the first meeting - he establishes a wonderful doctor-patient relationship, answers any and all questions, provides excellent information and his follow up is tremendous. The day prior to my surgery, he called me at home to see how I was doing and to, as he said, "share in my excitement" for this new journey. His follow-up while I was in the hospital was fantastic, as was the care I received from the staff at Presbyterian. I'd highly recommend him and his practice (Carolina Surgical).
I switched to Dr Voellinger and I'm almost to the point of having my information sent to the insurance company for approval. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE did I mention that I love Dr Voellinger and his staff. I think the staff are what really make the doctor and it also helps that six of his staff members have had WLS and he has done some of them! The are so helpful and are very quick with communication and with answering any questions you may have. When I first started my weight loss surgery journey, I started off with Dr. Omar K. Danner at Charlotte's Medical Weight Loss Center. I wasn't impressed with him at all and I actually gave him three shots just to see if it was me, when I started going to Dr. Voellinger I realized that I had made the right decision to switch. I love how knowledgeable every one in the office is. I would recommend Southeast Bariatrics to any one considering WLS!
