I HAVE A PROBLEM AND NEED ADVICE
I have been having these terrible attacks of pain in my lower abdomen. Sometimes it goes from under my breast bone all the way to my pubic area. It feels like there are knives being thrust into my intestines. And sometimes it comes in waves and feels like there is something in there kicking me really hard with cleats on. Two days ago I ate a salad with some onions and peppers chopped up real fine in it. I didn't know at the time they were in there until I got a bite with real hot stuff in it. Later in the day the pain started. And it hurt real bad. I took some mylanta but it didn't help. Then I remember that my sister told me to drink peppermint tea. Well, it finally went away. Then yesterday all I had to eat all day was 3 protein shakes, and some cheese puffs. Not the kind you usually find in the store, but the Snyder ones it is Cheese corn with out the hulls. Well anyway last night I had such terrible pains that I had to have some one drive me home and leave my car at the dance. Then I hurt so bad I was on the floor in pain at home. I took mylanta and finally a pain pill to ease the pain and I finally fell asleep at 1am and slept until 10 this morning.
The pain is gone, but I feel like a horse has kicked me in the stomach, it is all real tender. And I am just now trying some protein shake to get something in there.
Have any of you ever experienced this??
One time before I had it and went to the emergency room and was there for 7 hours while they did a scan and all. They said that I had eaten too much fat and my body couldn't handle it. Well this time there was no fat.
I am 15 months out and have gone from 326 to 157 Had my LAP RNY on July 27th of 2005. 7 pounds from goal

You might want to touch base with your surgeon. It could possibly be your gallbladder if you still have one. I had my gallbladder out two years ago and it made my body hurt really bad. I've had my appendix out to.
It could be any where between surgery related, gall bladder, appendix, even ovarian cysts. I hope you are able to get it resolved soon and too the root of it.
I still have back pains holding me down, but I'm loving my life post wls.
Good Luck,
Jennifer
Do you think it could be a bile duct stone? I had serious pain this past summer and dr B thought it could have been a bile duct stone. I was in horrible pain.
Sometimes these small stones can for and mimic gallbladder attack like symptoms.
You might have already missed your window of opportunity to get it diagnosed.
I don't have a gallbladder or appendix, but i do still have my ovaries and those parts.
Good Luck,
Jennifer
Rita-
I don't know all of the exact information, but I do know that you can still have "gallstones" even without a gallbladder. A lady that I used to work with had bouts of severe abdominal/stomach pain, etc. Anyway, come to find out that her body was still producing gallstones and they had become lodged (she did not have a gallbladder). I wish you the best and please call your surgeon.

They never found anything except incisional hernias on my CT scans. I ended up in emergency surgery 15 months out for multiple adhesions/scar tissue that were twisting up my bowel and my pouch, up under my ribs on both sides. I am now having the same troubles, dealing with recurrent ileus, on meds for abdominal pain and to keep my bowel active. I think I'm going to end up having surgery again, the exact same symptoms are back, and if I eat anything that's not totally soft or liquid, the pains come and last for hours. Please make your doc really check this out well if it continues.
