OAK ISLAND ?????????

Hi im sara from the fl board can anyone tell me anything there know about oak island . My husband is in the coast guard and that is one of the places we might be sent to ... Any info would be nice thanks sara

How funny you ask ! My good friend husband is with coast quard and they are looking to move by summer. I live about 30 minutes from oak island and it is great !! A very relaxed place to be ! I isn't like most beach towns, they is no hotels and very few places to eat. But you are close to shallotte, southport , and of course about 30 minutes to wilmington . Hi, I'm from Brunswick County HOLDEN BEACH/SUPPLY. Grew up there currently living in raleigh right now....but just wanted to let you know that OAK ISLAND is a beautiful and great place to live. I think that you will enjoy it there....eerything is so beautiful there. Shallotte is close buy...it's a growing city. I go home about twice monthly. Hope you like the area. Stephanie Bryant

My niece lives near there and we stayed at Oak Island this summer. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!! It's real close to Wilmington and not too far from Myrtle Beach, SC. Very tourist oriented. You'll love it!

Hi Sara, My husband and I moved here, Hampstead NC, from East Hampton NY. We had the great beaches, fishing, boating, shopping...all the things that made our hometown in NY a really quaint place to live and raise a family. We visited NC and fell in love with it's southeast coast for the same reasons we loved East Hampton...but the people here are much more relaxed...the pace is more laid back. A VERY welcome treat. He works at Oak Island and we go there some weekends to walk the beach, grab a quick bite and see the sites. I think you will love it here. In fact, you may never want to leave. We didn't. Good Luck.
