Surgeon Quit!?

I have just finished my preop testing last week and received a letter yesterday that Dr. Malik is no longer performing Gastric Bypass surgery. It didnt have an explanation just that if I needed my records that they would be glad to send them and help me find another doc. Does anyone have any insight into why he stopped and also have any suggestions for a good surgeon in eastern nc?

Wow, that's got to be quite a blow! I am preop, so I cannot speak from experience yet, but I would give a serious look at the Drs at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. I have Dr. Chapman, who has been doing this surgery for many years. He's considered a pioneer in WLS. The hospital has very good reviews as well, in terms of patient care in general, and obesity specifically. I'm not sure how close Greenville is to Snow Hill, or if your insurance covers different hospitals and docs, but it's worth a look if it's an available option to you. He is my doctor and I haven't heard anything about him not doing it anymore. I am 1 year and 3 months out and still sick, I have not stopped throwing up. I threw up when I came out of the OR. And still throwing up. Dr. Malk. sent me to someone else. He didn't know what to do. Not sure how good he was anyway. Try the doctor in concord n.c. I heard he was the best one around. I wanted him but he was to busy. It was going to take me 3 months to get a appt. So I jumped the gun and got Dr. Malk. and he seen me within a week. Oh well...keep me up on him if you would please. i have dr. malik too. its terrible that he is no longer doing the surgery. it hit hard to find out that jennifer, his nurse, was let go and then i found out that he completely closed up shop in rocky mount. i asked him about all this and he had no answer. before jennifer left she told me that he was going to get out of it and go a different direction, but couldnt tell me why. as far as i know, i will continue to see him for my follow ups. adrienne

I see you live in Snow Hill, have you considered ECU Dr. Pender done mine almost 6 mnths ago along with some others on here, and we are all doing Great! He's a very good Dr. and ECU is a Great hospital. Best of luck to you, what ever you choose. Perry W.

Southern Surgical Center in Greenville...Dr. Wade Naziri...I Love that man! My brother, my sister, and I have all had surgery by him. My brother also went back to him for GB removal.

Hi Angie: So sorry to hear that your surgeon is getting out but at least you are ahead of the game with the preop testing. My surgeon is out of Fayetteville - Village Surgical where I used Dr. Davidson. He is great!! Most of their nurses are post op bypass and very helpful. They have monthly seminars for post op patients which is very informative. My sister also used Dr. Davidson in June, 2006 and no complications. I highly recommend him!! hi, sorry to hear that, try dr Wade NAZIRI AT Southern surgical in Greenville nc, he is very good did mine 7 months ago, also did my wife 1 1/2 years ago and we are doing great, he is a perfectionist, my wife knows many of his patients and all are doing well, if you are using blue cross insurance he has automatic approval for the rny with them, let me know if you need further info. thanks Curtis in Greenville.
