Where is the best place to live in North Carolina?
Hey Kathy,
I live in Concord, NC just outside of Charlotte. I moved to Charlotte when I was 2 (that would be 3 years ago) My husband and I built in Cabarrus County just to get out of Mecklenburg. We just wanted out and something not so busy. I pass several cow pastures and horse farms to get to my house. I love it but yet I am 10 mins from Wal-mart and 15 mins from a large mall (Concord Mills) It's wonderful....I would reccommend this area to anyone at any time.
Good Luck on your search!
Kim
Hi from hickory,nc
I wanted to answer your question about a good place to live here.... You need to ask yourself what you are looking for, area, schools, close to people, not so close to others. Stuff like that. I know I could in no way live in charlotte,nc. Everyday someone is getting killed there. Shot, broken into.Ect. The schools are always having problems taken care it's self.My son goes to vance high school in charlotte and it was one of the better schools there till the other kids started bringing guns to school. One kid was shot outside of the school. I have put 3 boys through middle and high school in burke county,nc. East burke middle and east burke high school. Thay are great schools! Taxes are cheap here. Car ins. Is cheaper. Food, the price of homes are "alot" cheaper here.
A 200,000 home in charlotte,nc would cost you here 90 to 95,ooo.
I am getting ready to put 3 more kids through school and I would not be anywhere else then were I am now! Wonderful place to live.
Thanks and have a great day! James from hickory,nc
Hi Kathy, I was born and raised in Charlotte and still live here. Charlotte is very green and we're known for our beautiful tree canopy. The winters are very mild. Today it was about 78 degrees with beautiful sun. This past summer it was in the 90's for a long 4 weeks with high humidity. If you consider Charlotte you'll probably want to consider one of the suburbs surrounding Charlotte too. I live in the city limits near the University of NC/Charlotte campus but I'm in an older neighborhood on 2 acres of woods and you don't find that often anymore in the city limits.
We're about midway between the Blue Ridge mountains and the beaches, Lake Norman is just north of us and there are lots of opportunity for outdoor activites, the arts, jobs etc. There's also a wide variety of housing choices.
My support group is tied to my surgeon's practice but there are a good many unaffiliated support groups in the area.
I'm also very fond of the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill triad area, Asheville and the Wilmington area.
Good luck with your relocation!!
Robin
I live in Cary...aww mahn...I love it!
The schools are overcrowded...work in progress though. So many people are moving here. The job market is great due to RTP, state government and whatever else you can find! Tax bracket is good. Always building something somewhere...Now that I can do without. Too much construction.
Lots of shopping. And just enough city and country life to keep this country girl happy. There are plays, concerts, traffic congestion (ohhh I40 after a wreck...), good southern hospitality and still a good farmer's market, lots of winding country roads, beautiful fall leaves....
And, it is not too far from other places. Kinda in the middle of New York and Florida. You can drive to Atlanta and DC in 5-6 hours. The beach is 2.5 hours away...Lots of lakes for fishing...The mountains are about 4 hours away...Charlotte is 2 hours away...
My best friend is from the Bay Area. She moved here about 7 years ago. Her mother and sister soon followed!
Can you tell I like it here?
