One the loosing side . . . finally!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I finally got to have surgery as scheduled on the 20th! I am very impressed with Dr. Bauman. He even came up to the hospital around 9:00pm on Friday night to make sure that I had voided so I could go home. (I couldn't pee after surgery so they had to put a catheter back in.
For any of you out there that hasn't had your surgery yet, if you plan on stocking up on protein that you like (like I did) don't. I had read several postings that our tastes change after surgery. I don't know what happens to cause this phenomenon, but now some of the protein drinks that I loved make me want to gag. I did like the chocolate Atkins Advantage that they gave me at the hospital. Right now I am tolerating the Advant Edge. And the stuff I got at GNC with had 32 gms of protein for serving - well it taste like what I would imagine wet dog hair would taste like.
Also, if you don't pack anything but a pair of slippers, lip balm, a brush and a toothbrush and toothpaste, you'll be fine. Hope this helps any newbies out there.

Hi Susan. Angela D. here from Winterville. I am having my surgery in Pinehurst w/Dr. Washington. I do appreciate the news. I was getting ready to get some things in advance. Protien items were 1 of them. Thanx for letting me know. I just did try the Ensure shake. That was pretty good. I have heard that taste changes after major surgery. I just signed my papers for surgery the other day. I had my EKG so that is 1 test that I wont have to do when my surgery is scheduled. I hope Medicaid is on the ball so I can hear something really soon.
Thanx again . I really do enjoy this website.

Hey Angela!
If you do shop ahead for protein get sampler packs! That way if you hate something you don't have a 2 pound jug of it gathering dust like I did! I ended up giving away over $100 worth of protein that I hated post-op! But sampler packs are a great way of discovering what you like and what you wouldn't give to your worst enemy!
Good luck to you!
