Stephanie, I'm HOPING to have surgery at Durham Regional through the Duke Weight Loss Surgery group. Is that the same as what you're looking into? I have my 1st appt. 9/26. I'm more afraid that I won't get approval for surgery than I am of actually having the surgery! We shall see......As soon as I have an official weigh on Tuesday, I'm going to go on the South Beach Diet to start the process. I didn't dare lose any weight before the first visit because according to my insurance, I haven't been overweight long enough to qualify! In spite of the fact that I've been losing this battle with weight for 40+ years! The only co-morbidity I have is mild/moderate sleep apnea. Hopefully that and a BMS of 40-41 will get me approved. Hi, My BMI was the same and I was approved but that was a long time ago. I had surgery at Duke and found the staff very professional and nice. Good luck. Paula
