Hi everyone, I learned yesterday that I will have surgery to remove my ruptured disc in my neck next Tuesday. I was so relieved I cried, as did my wonderful fiance'....I'm so lucky to have such a kind, nurturing man in my life. He has literally made this whole excruciating ordeal bearable with his care and attention (and daily massages). I am so blessed. The surgery is outpatient and there is minimal risk, but pray for me if you will...I am a little nervous since it is the spinal cord they are messing with. Saw Dr. Melkonian yesterday as well for my six month checkup. All is normal, and I am on track with weightloss...I've lost 90 pounds total since March 7th (first day of 2 week liquids)...It has slowed down to a crawl, but I'm very happy with where I'm at now and happy to lose slowly from now on. Having the surgery was the best decision of my life. Jamey

Hey Jamey, Good Luck on your surgery. I'm praying all will be well. I'm like you now, my weight loss is at a slow crawl. I hope you recover quickly. Take care of yourself and tell your sweetie to keep on being a sweetie.... Sandi

Thanks again Pat...I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy (Osama Bin Laden I would though). It is very painful and the worst part is that it is impossible to get away from...the pain pills take the edge off, but they quit really working last week. I know there are plenty of people out there worse off though...I have a friend at work whose dad has three discs that have ruptured and some bone spurs and his surgery was not scheduled until Oct 6th...I think I was lucky because I only have one bad disc and the surgery for one is fairly fast so they fit me in...I never really felt pain before and this has truly been a wake up call to me about not taking my good health for granted. I will ask Allison to post tomorrow...I'm hoping it will be as easy as the doctor said it will be.
