Woohoo!!I hit the century mark!!!
Hey everybody. I am so excited I've hit the century mark about 1 week ago. I am down actually 102 lbs. I would like to lose another 30 lbs. I hope to be there by years end. It's been hard lately. I have a problem with my salivary glands due to the radioactive iodine treatment I had in May. It is really painful to eat and I have noticed I am not eating enough of anything and am having to supplement heavily with protein shakes. The doctor said I could have the salivary issue for 8 more months so I am kind've down about that. But still excited about the weight loss.
How to get your century club card on your profile, does anybody know?
I hope you all have a great day!
Carly
Congratulations!!! You are a real inspiration to those of us just starting out...
Regarding your salivary glands, is it the actual swallowing that is painful or the act of chewing? Are some textures easier? If your glands are working at all, there is a medicine to increase salivation...they give it to adults with dry mouth...maybe that would help?
Good luck!

Thank you Tamara! I would have never believed a year ago that I would lose 100 lbs. It's almost unreal at times. I sometimes look at myself and don't recognize the person I see. That's been the hardest to get used to.
The pain is in all my salivary glands when I eat. They swell and are really painful. The parotid and the sub mandibular ones are the worst. That pain is almost unbearable at times. The ENT told me that the medicine to stimulate the glands would cause my pain all the time instead of just when I eat, so that's out. The other thing they could do for me was start me on a 28 day treatment of steroids. But I am just fresh from having cancer and the steroids could weaken my immune system and cause the cancer to return, so that's out as well. The only other thing to do is just deal.
