Hi all....need some advice
Help!! I would have NEVER believed that I would be complaining about losing too much weight so fast but that's exactly what I feel I'm doing. I had my surgery 03/28/06 and have lost 70 lbs from surgery itself. I lost 15 prior to surgery. At my 1st check up, Dr. didn't seem too concerned. I have my blood work and 6 mo check up at the end of the month. I've only got about 15-20 lbs more to go to my goal.
My problem is that I still don't WANT to eat. I'm beginning to get my hunger back, but food just really doesn't interest me that much and I eat because I know I need to. I still eat something about every 4 hours...tried to eat 3 meals daily, but it just isn't working for me...I seem to get more sick that way. I'm still having problems getting in all my protein without adding shakes/bars, etc. Am I alone with this problem?? Thanks in advance for any comments. Carol
Hi Carol: I know exactly how you feel. I too have lost 70 pounds as of this morning but guess what - my surgery was May 9, 2006. I weighed 240 morning of surgery and now at 170. I was wearing a tight 20 prior to surgery and now in a comfortable 12. I am also only about 20 pounds from my goal also and I have so many people coming up to me and saying "You do not need to lose any more weight". I do still want to loose around 20 more which would put me at 150 pounds at 5'6" and I am a large frame. Oh yea, in case you did not notice I used Dr. Davidson at Village Surgical. They are great!!! Isn't it a great problem to have worried about losing. LOL

Hey Carol, I had my surgery in Feb 06, and I've lost a total of 75 pounds, the hunger is trying to come back and I can eat more. The pounds are really slowing down, I only have 20 more pounds to go to meet my Dr. goal, but I want to loose 25 to 30 more on a personal level. I'm having to fight for every extra pound now that I loose. So it will probally slow down for you soon. I'm just now to the point that I can eat chicken, I have to cut it into small pieces and chew really well. But I do drink 1 to 2 protien drinks a day, just for safety sake...I eat tiny meals through the day. Compared to what I read about most people at our stage, I think that you are right on target. I hope this helps, take care. Sandi
Hey, I don't know what kind of help I can be,but I'll try,ok.
I went in for my surgery on 7/12/05 at park ridge hospital in hendersonville,nc. I was 417lb on that day. After the surgery, within the first 2 weeks.. I lost 65lb. To date, I am down 202lb. I weight now,215lb. I do think everyone will lose in their on way. Water melon was my best friend, lol. I could not to the shakes at all and still can't.
I do atkins shakes from wal-mart. 1gram of suger and they do work. High in protein. Looking back, I would do it again in a heart beat! I do wish you the best and if you have any questions? Please ask,ok. Do my best to answer. James from hickory.
Hi Carol,
I had my RNY on June 5th and have lost 75 lbs. as of this am. I don't really feel as if I am losing too fast. However, I do have more to lose than you (I still need to lose 65 lbs. more). I typically eat 3 meals (1 being a protein shake) and 1 snack per day (around 600-800 calories). I love the fact that food is not that important to me anymore. I feel like I am honestly living by the saying "I"m eating to live, not living to eat."
I wish you the best!
Susan
