Greenfield Filter

Hope all is well..................before I have my wls, I will have to get a greenfield filter because of blood clots. Need some info...........thanks in advance!

Hi Susan, I don't know what the filter is called, but a girl I work with had to have a filter put in before her gastric bypass surgery. She takes blood thinner and has lots of problems with clotting. After her WLS she was supposed to have this filter removed, but because of some major clots that were trapped by it, the doctors decided to leave it in. She will never have it removed unless it becomes life-threatening for her. It is my understanding that she will never be able to conceive children because of this, UNLESS they remove it and watch under complete bedrest for the majority of the pregnancy. She is in her 30's and says she will probably never have any children at this point anyway. She is OK with this, because without the filter she could never have had her surgery and she has lost A LOT! She looks really good, so I guess she chose the best option for her.
