Newbie

Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself. I mailed my paperwork to the MD's office today. I know this sounds silly but I am really excited about it and look at it as a big accomplishment. It's such a small step in the beginning of this journey but it feels great to FINALLY have a little hope. I have felt so hopeless and helpless for so long. I've been reading everything on this website for months now. It's awesome. I really hope I can make friends on here. I don't know anyone personally that has been through WLS. It will be nice to have people to share what's going on and ask questions to. Thanks to all of you who post. I'm really learning a lot. Take care!

Congratulations on your first step to having WLS. I am only 4 months post op so I can remember well how excited I was too to get my paperwork started. Good Luck in getting the ball rolling. Also, welcome aboard. Donna

Just want to say hello and welcome! I have just started on my WLS journey, I've been to a seminar, and have my consult scheduled with Dr. Voellinger on Sept 22nd. I have been doing a lot of research on weight loss surgery and had originally decided to go with the lapband, but after going to the seminar and being on the lapbadantalk.com board I have decided to try for the LAP RNY for several reasons, I hear a lot about people having problem with the band being tight or needing fills and unfills, I just dind't think that it would be the way to go for me, but so many have had great success with it. I too have really learned a lot by coming to these message boards it's amazing how may people are going through the same things. I'm really excited about this yet a little... ok a lot nervous also, I think the main issue is getting the aproval from insurance companies, I hear that I have a pretty good one so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
