Just home- Stomach pain- need input!
Hi! I just returned home from surgery 2 days ago. Surgery went great! I am an amputee and have been using my crutches. I had pain in my stomach (left side- drain tube- in the hospital- as expected) the pain was bad the first day and got better as time went on. It got easier to get up each time I did it- It didn't feel so tight. Well today the pain is really back. I'm now using my wheel chair because it pulls- burns to use it (get up-- or move extensively. Just standing or sitting I'm fine-- Is it possible I just over did it and my muscles are sore (by walking on the crutches) Or could it be more? I am going to the bathroom fine and digestion seems to be fine-- it's just this muscle pain. Is this common/ Did others feel a strong pain when trying to get up? I just feel like it's a lot gotten worse? I Just want input on how other peoples level of pain right after surgery. Thanks! The pain is just below belly button and to the left. It doesn't hurt pushing on it.
That was where my pain was too... it almost felt like a string attached to something and it was a short string... so if I moved the wrong way I would feel pain. The pain for me wasnt super bad but every once in a while Id get a shooting pain in that same area. I would think using the crutches would make it a little harder on you since you are using more of your stomach muscles to get around. I would be careful getting up and sitting down and try and be very mindful of using your ab area
I had pain there too...it is possible you overdid it by having to use the crutches If it's not better by Mon. I would call the doc. Also, if you have some pain meds left you might take some before bed and before walking around the house or neighborhood with the crutches...At the support group meeting this month Dr. Davidson's PA mentioned that side hurts worse because they put stitches in there to sew the muscle fibers together...
Hope you feel better soon...
