Medicaid...up to new tricks?
I was notified today that Mediciad seems to suspect that I have income that I did not report. Apparently the NC Department of Revenue owes me money and has been paying me interest on that money and the interest wasnt reported for income. This is the first Ive heard of it. Maybe Im reading it wrong?
The form asks how long have I had an interest bearing account with the NC DOR (Dept of Revenue) and how mu*****ome did I have through this account? Right now I truly have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I would assume that I owed them money instead of the other way around....
Just last week I got a letter from them concerning my request for approval to have WLS and it basically stalled for time, asking that I see a nutritionist, lose some weight, and re apply in one month.
Am I being paranoid or are they trying to find any way they can to deny my request for surgery?
Has anyone had a similar experience?
hello there. Angela D from Winterville here. I just read your message. The only thing that I can think of that you could do is call the IRS. Get them to send you proof of what they have. Get Medicaid to do the same thing. If things like that happens to me, I would want to get proof, not just phone proof. I am the type of person that gets EVERYTHING in writing, peoples' names/dates.. etc. Something this important, dont let anything stop it. I have a meeting Tues in Pinehurst to meet my surgeon. Im getting close. I hope I helped in some way.

If you did not know they owed you money and you did not use the money then you applied for Medicaid in good faith. Hopefully the amt. of the account will not be significant enough to change your status. You need to get in touch with the NC Dept of Revenue and see what is going on. My understanding is that Medicaid makes you jump through hoops, but then approves and pays well. You will probably end up paying ten dollars out of pocket if I remember from the seminar...
Good luck!
