What do you do with the arm flab??
Hi everyone. I hope you all are well. I love to look at the pictures (b4 & after) and I notice so many ladies wearing halters and tanks and pretty tops with no sleeves. My question is this: do you not have batwings, or do you just opt to not let it bother you? When I have my arms down, just resting, they look like my legs and it really bothers me. I tell anyone who asks, the truth about how I lost weight. I am NOT ashamed, but I dont like the way certain things look, like the arms, with the amount of weight I have lost. I feel and look so much better, but I want to wear nice things too. Tell me what y'all think. Is there an exercise I could do? I am 39 years old, so I dont have the elasticity of a younger person but would do exercises that target the arms. Thank you in advance for ANY help.

I guess I'm really not the one that should be answering this because honestly I don't have ANY arm flab. Pre-surgery all and I mean all of my weight was in my stomach. People didn't know that I was fat if they only saw me from behind. Every extra pound I had was in my stomach. So, since I've lost weight my hanging skin was the pannus above and below my belly button. Luckily, I've had a hernia repair and abdominal muscle repair and a panniculectomy where they cut off 10-15 pounds of sagging, hanging skin. This has made a tremendous difference in my appearance and because of the huge hernia I had insurance covered all procedures.
I do know that many of the women on here have something that is called a brachiaplasty or an upper arm lift. You can check this out under "Forums" at the top of the page. Click on Plastic Surgery, then click on "go to message board". You will find many people who can answer any question you might have about arm flab.
I hope this helps.

Hey Pegi,
I have arm flab but have decided that if exercise doesn't fix it then people will just have to deal with it. I had a hernia repair with muscle tightning and panniculecomy on March 1, 2006 and I had BL/BA on June 5, 2006. I hope I am done with surgeries. I won't put my body through more if I don't have too. I ride my bike every afternnon for at least 10-15 miles hoping to take care of the thigh skin and do some target weights for the arms. I do lots of other exercises too but really concentrate on these. I am blessed to have my body the way it is now so I try and be happy with it. I understand what you mean about wearing the cute tops but you know what....I wear them! If people can't appreciate where we come from then I don't owe them an explanation. Feel good about yourself, you have come along way baby! Hope you have a good one and go put on a cute little top.
Later,
Pam
250/150/148 my small goal now is to maybe get to 140????got there once and body decided it liked 145 better.
My arms are bad...but ya' know what...if ya' don't like 'em, don't look! That is the philosophy I have developed! I have worn tanks several times this summer and I must say I am a little cautious about raising my arms and moving them a lot! BUT, I have come so far! I will not let that pull me down! All I can say is, in a couple of years....tummy tuck here I come!
If you go to webmd.com and type in "womens arm exercises" it will bring up a good set of arm workouts. I would start with a 3lb weight and then move up to a 5lb weight... wont want to do much more than that since you will want to tone more than build up big muscles You can also get a resistance band and it should come with a booklet with arm and let exercises in it as well
Swimming is also a good way to exercise the arms!
