I am a slow loser and it is frustrating as anything!!! I am extremely greatful for how far I have come already but just wondered if there was something I could do (or something Im doing wrong!!) to increase my weightloss. I am 2 months out as of this past Tuesday... have been debating doing the 2 week liquid diet again. Any thoughts/opinions on this?? I have been getting my protein, suppliments, water and exercise in. I admit I have been a little lax with the exercise - I just started a new job where I am on my feet all day (which I am completely not use to) and by the time I get home I have to soak my poor tootsies cause they are hurtin!!! Nut said to start taking myself off protein shakes and getting my protein from food but I find its hard to stay around 1000 calories and get in the protein without drinking 2 shakes a day... I can do it on 1 shake. The shakes I make are 160 calories each... I have been drinking one as a meal and one as a snack... add 2 more meals on that and Im getting up there!! I havent had any food intolerances and have no issues eating or drinking - so any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Hey Jennifer, You didn't say how much you have lost. What do you consider a slow looser. I have lost 75 pounds in 6 mths. I have recently hit a slow spell, I started drinking 2 protein drinks a day, because I wasn't getting enough protein, and really drinking the krap out of water, maybe 80 oz a day, and I'm finally loosing again. Like they say each person is different. I was also snacking too much, I cut it out too. I'm now counting my proteins and calories and really watching what I eat. I can't exercise too much either because I had foot surgery in May and it still hurts. Just be patient and do what you have to do, for me its the protein drinks 2 times a day. I am within 30 pounds of goal, so I hope I get there. Good Luck to you and I hope everything works out for you...Take Care. Sandi

I would always go back on my liquid diet when I didn't loose for a few days. It seemed to help. I couldn't eat food good anyway. so the liquids still do me good. I love soup and can eat a lot of it. Healthy choice soup rocks. Good luck to ya. God bless Amy

Alot of things factor in to weight loss amounts. Are you alot overweight or some? The bigger we are; the faster it falls off in the beginning. What do you consider a slow loss? Would you have considered the same amount of weight in a GAIN, a "slow gain"? Also keep in mind that the body, ANY BODY, can only absorb about 30 grams of protien at a time. So if you are drinking a shake with 55 g of protien in it, you are throwing away money and protien. Split your shakes up into 2 shakes. What kind of things do you snack on? I know its hard to ALWAYS make good choices, and I admit, I dont all the time. I have 2 Oreo cookies EVERY moring with my coffee. I try to eat good the rest of the day. If I just want a little something, I get a spoon of peanut butter. Fills my pouch right up!!! Are you drinking ANY carbonated beverages? They are a BIG BIG BIG no no. The carbonation does irreversible damage to the pouch. I have not had a "REAL" soft drink in 3 years. My mother in law will open a diet coke a few days before a family dinner and pour it in a glass and let it go flat. Then the day of the dinner I get to have a "soft drink". It works for me. Again, its hard to help without a lot of info. But the biggie is in what you weigh and the amount you are losing. Take care and chin up!! Pegi 283/141

At the time of my pre-op visit I had about 115lbs to lose. I am just getting concerned because the surgeon said at my 3 month post-op I should be down around 60lbs... thats in another 4 weeks. I have lost 32lbs total... that is including the 14lbs I lost on the liquid pre-op so since surgery I am down 18lbs over a 2 month period. I do only take in 30 grams protein at a time. As for snacks... I eat breakfast, lunch then have a shake for snack... when I get home Ill nibble on something light - a light mozz cheese stick, a few cheese and crackers, a handful of nuts before dinner. I dont drink ANY carbonated beverages... only drink water, light soy milk and SF Koolaid.

It sounds like you are doing all the right things ..it is probably just a stall...I think you are only a little further out than me, but i am getting between 550 and 650 calories per day...did your Dr. tell you to take in 1, 000 cal./day? I'm wondering if that is a bit on the higher side and might be why it is not dropping off as fast? Rather than going back to liquids, you could try to reduce it to 750-800 calories for a week to see if that helps (unless your doc told you not to) Good luck! Aramat

I am suppose to be between 800-1000 calories a day. I am more around the 800 calorie side depending on the day.... a lot of the times less because I have been eating salad with a little bit of light dressing for lunch with some fruit.

I am sure you are doing the right things...I was just brainstorming ideas to help but it is probably just a stall, then next week you will see the scales moving again! Good luck and try not to worry! Aramat

Hello Jennifer, I have also been at a stall, and have thought about the liquid diet for 2 weeks to see if it jump starts my weight loss. I can not complain I have lost 110 pounds since March 14th , and I know that is GREAT , but it has taken me 2 weeks to lose 3 pounds. Diet Coke--- okay , I will not lie, I drink it. The doctor has said it does not hurt the pouch, if drank in moderation,,,, my goddness it is my only treat , I really love my Diet Coke. I feel great I work out 5 days a week, I have gone from a 26 to a 18... If I was you I would call my nurtritonist and ask her what to do. Liquid diet may be the answer to get you moving. If you are like me , my body holds tight to weight, I am sure if I ate 2 Oreo's I would gain 3 pounds Good Luck, exercise , snack only on sugar free popsicles and water ... Take care
