I am Sandra, from Shelby, NC. I have 3 kids (11, 9, and 6), 3 dogs, am divorced, 41, and tired of being fat! I just started my weight loss surgery approval journey. I will be having surgery at Frye in Hickory. I have my information meeting at the hospital on Sept 5 and the sleep apnea test on August 29. I can't wait to be on the losing side! Sandra

Hi Sandra, Welcome to OH. I am fairly new here too. These forums have proved to be very helpful to me. I will be having my surgery next Thursday (8/24) at Frye. Dr. Cook will be performing my surgery. After researching the surgery for over a year, I finally started the journey in February. I went to the education class in April, got all my records from my physician for the last 5 years together, had my thyroid test done, and went for the psychological exam. Then I saw Dr. Cook and he told me that I was a good candidate for the surgery, then Lisa got everything together and submitted it to the insurance company. It took about 3 weeks to get the approval, and here I am a week away from surgery. The past 3 days have been tough because of the liquid diet you have to be on 10 days before surgery, but each day is getting a little easier. Like you, I can't wait to be on the losing side. I have been overweight all my life, so I can't fathom what it will be like to be smaller. I am very excited, but getting nervous about the surgery. Keep in touch, and rest assured that this forum provides a lot of support and answers any and all questions. They have been great. Hugs -- Chris
