Medicaid denial....NO CODES?????

I still havent gotten the letter from Medicaid about my denial but I went by the surgeons office and they gave me a copy of it. There were no codes, just a short note that said I basically needed to show that I could stick to a diet and lose some weight.... Ive seen three nutritionists. The first nutritionist told me that she would consider me doing good if I could control my binge eating. I stopped eating out and started cooking more etc and managed to acomplish everything she said to do almost immediately. The last two were with my diabetes classes and they said I needed to eat MORE carbs. First they said 3 meals per day with 60 grams of carbs each and then they said 4 meals per day at 60 grams each. Then they started on me about eating 2 or 3 snacks between meals, etc. Im not kidding. They gave me a diet plan for eating 2200 calories per day and later told me to add carbs to that!!! How can I lose weight eating that much? Seriously they acted like if I would just eat a little more then my blood sugar would somehow fix itself... At one point during a conversation in which they were lecturing me about eating more I asked them does it look like I have a problem eating? Eventually I was able to show them (the nutritionists) that my diabetes wasnt improving and I told them I wanted to cut back on my carbs. The only diets Ive ever had work for me were the Atkins diets. They were very much against this but finally agreed that eating so much wasnt doing any good, although they did make remarks that I was probably eating more than they said which is not true. If anything I was eating less than they were telling me to eat. While by no means am I an athlete I did exercise more during my diabetes classes and managed to lose 5 pounds during the 8 week class. The patient rep told me to go to my PCP and have him document some weight loss of maybe 5 to 10 % of my body weight and then come back and they would appeal this. She promised that it would be approved if I could lose a little weight... I know how to lose weight. The problem is I gain it all back. I can lose the weight they want me to lose but its just a yo yo diet. Oh well. I guess its their game and I have to play by their rules?

What you need is to get the nutritionist to write up something stating what you should eat and show that you followed it . . . . Something from your doctor would be good too . . . They just want documentation. Also if you have anything from weigh****chers or any diet plan that you signed up for . . basically they want to know will you be able to stick the changes need for GBS. Also the reason they are telling you to eat more is because 1 if you don't eat enough your body will hold the food until it gets more - causing you not to lose and maybe even gain weight. Also depending on your meds . . . that is how the meds are designed to work. You have to eat in order for the meds to work and you have to eat something for them to work on. Being diabetic does not mean you don't eat carbs. . . you need carbs to survive. But as soon as you get approved you wont have to worry about that . I have not taken my meds since the day before surgery!!! Keep the faith you will be approved. Medicaid really needs a form to filled out because they really don't like sorting through the medical notes! Believe me, I know cause I have been where you are. You will be approved.
