Anyone had a stall where you gain weight?
GOOD MORNING!
Hope everyone is having a great one! I'm having a really frustrating time. I hit Onederland on July 18th...sooooo happy. Well, that was two weeks ago today and I've only seen it one day since then. I'm used to the 4 or 5 day stalls where I fluctuate a little bit and then start losing, but I weighed 202.4 today...been between 200 and 201 for the past week. Yesterday I was 200.6. Now I know the stuff about not weighing everyday and what to do to break a stall...I'm not concerned about that....My question is have those of you who've seen the long stalls actually GAINED weight before you started losing again???? My fear is that I'm retaining water (not due to menstrual cycle). I haven't been drinking water like I was so that could be it....but I still can't imagine how I'm gaining if I'm only eating 600-800 calories per day...just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what happened over time?...how long did it last?
Thanks in advance...I'm worried.
Jamey
Hey Jamey
You might need to increase you daily caloric intake. Or... if you are eating the same thing, say for breakfast everyday, change your menu. Sometimes just a small change will make a difference. i was stuck for a couple of weeks then about 5 lbs gon in just a few days...weird. Course, it may be LOVE!!!

This floats around from board to board. I hear it works very well. If all else fails bump up your activity level.
How to break a plateau
#1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau
#2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day
#3 - You must have 45 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day
#4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5x a day
beef
pork
chicken
turkey
lamb
fish
eggs
low fat cheese
cottage cheese
plain yogurt or artificially sweetened (?)
Peanut butter
Beans/legumes
you may also have:
sugar free popsicles
tea or coffee
sugar free soda
sugar free jello
broths/bullion (sp?)
Crystal light drinks
#5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!!
Hey Jamey, I'm doing the same thing, but mine has been about 3 to 4 weeks. I can't exercise too much because of my foot. I have been walking some, with regrets. But I'm hanging around 167 lbs and 170 lbs, Just ping ponging back and forwards. I'm thinking about trying that Platau Diet listed on this post to you. What do you think? If you find a way to get it moving again, let me know...You look great. I don't even look much like my photo any more. About 20 lbs lighter which is good...But man, I've only got 35 to 40 lbs to go...Bummer...Good luck and thanks for the support earlier...Take Care.. Sandi
Hi Jamey. I cannot speak from personal experience as I'm a pre-op, but I read a lot on the boards. It is very common for people to stall/gain around 4-5 months. It seems to be a time when your body makes an adjustment for the changes taking place. Some have described it as your body taking a rest, metabolically speaking. The plateau buster diet probably helps. The main idea is to up your protein and water intake, and increase your exercise level a bit. There is an extremely knowledgeable lady on the Virginia boards named Tinkerbell, who is a wealth of information. She is always happy to email anyone about questions such as these.
The other thing I would think might be a good idea is to contact your surgeon or your nutritionist. They might have some wisdom to impart on this matter.
Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Jamey/Misty...yes, this happens to me all the time...I will drop to a weight, like 157.8 on July 22 and then ever since then I've been between that and 159.6. But this has happened to me about 10 times since last September, and it always starts dropping again. I know you know to up your water. that works for me.

Hello Friend~~
I'm in the frustration mode also....the past 4 weeks have been: Gained 2, lost 1, lost 1, lost 0. I think our bodies must be trying to adjust. I'm glad to hear that your having the same troubles....tee hee hee. Just kidding! I don't wish plateau's on anybody! I think my problem is that I'm not consuming enough calories. I get in around 500 to 600 per day. I do get in all my water and protein. So, I'm trying to pay close attention to upping those calories to see if that helps. Good luck and God bless to you! By the way....you look gorgeous!
