Need Help

I am looking into Bariatric Surgery, so far I have tried two doctors and one I cant afford and the other Kept me waiting on my first appointment for over 2 hours. I live in Fayetteville, NC and would like to konw Bariatric Surgeons That you would recommend. I have Medicare and Medicaid for insurance and at last weigh in was down to 289 lbs from 305, by the bariatric diet. The two doctors I have seen are in order Dr. Mitchell in Pinehurst and Dr. Carter in Fayetteville. Please let me know who you are going to and what you think of your dr/surgeon. THank You

Have far are you willing to travel, My doctor's office accepts both, however I'm in charlotte. My doctor's name is Dr. Kuwada and he is at the Bariatic Surgery Center at CMC Mercy.

Hi Janette I live in Fayetteville too...I just had my surgery a month ago and am doing great! My doctor is Dr. Classen at Village Surgical...he is an awesome surgeon...I have heard wonderful things about his partner Dr. Davidson also. They, together with Cape Fear Valley hospital, have been designated a Center of Excellence, which helps getting insurance approval...the nice people in their office sent my packet in and dealt with insurance...I didn't have to wait long to be approved....Village Surgical is located on Boone Trail which is off Village Drive. Regardless of which Dr. you choose there is a nice support group that meets the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm at CFV hospital...The meeting is held in a classroom in the Rehab section. Email me if you want better directions. This group is open to all bariatric or pre-bariatric patients regardless of their surgeon... Good luck with everything! Aramat

Before you travel you need to check to see if the hospital the surgeon will use has it's Center of Exellence certificate. If it doesn't then your doctor can't do your surgery. Medicare does approve the surgery now however it has to be at a COE. That is medicare rules. If you are thinking of the Charlotte area my doc accepts medicare however there is no hospital that he can do the surgery. Presbyterian and CMC Mercy have applied for it. Prebyterian is ahead of the game right now just becuase they started filing sooner. So I would personally highly recomment Dr. Voellinger however he can't accept you right now because of the requirements. So I wish you the best luck in your journey!!!!

My doctor is in rocky mount, or you can see him in cary. he has 2 offices. his name is dr. malik and he is at advanced surgical associates. here is his website: www.advancedsurgassociates.com. i wouldn't recommend anyone else. he is the best. he and his wife were a team in surgery. and i went home the next day. he is informative and knows his stuff. give him a try. he accepts medicaid. adrienne

Hi there. Im Angela D from Winterville (greenville area). I am having my surgery in Pinehurst. I have Medicaid of NC. I weigh about the same thing you do. I met Dr. Mitchell at the first info session I went to. I like him very much. Since I am on Medicaid, I will be having his partner, Dr. Washington, as my surgeon. Hi Angela, I also have met with Dr. Mitchell but I cant afford the 500 sign up and 596 prepayment that I have to have with medicare and medicaid, I only get 596 a month and so I dont know what to do as it is I barely get my bills paid and food on the table with what I get and they have no other option but to pay upfront.
