I am actuallly "pre" pre-op...still researching and getting to know the routine. I have a question. It is quite possible that I will be a self-pay WLS miracle. (Love that! Can't wait!) Is it definate...or almost definate...that plastic surgery will be needed after extreme weight loss? I am about 365 (shame) and always very thin until the onset of weight gain in my mid 20s. I am 42yo now. Just wondering. I am committed to this life change but want to know all I have to encounter in the future. Thanks all! Happy Losing - Can't Wait to join y'all on the other side. xoxo Mary Ann

I really can't answer that question as I am only 6 weeks post op. There is a good chance that yes you will need PS but everyone is different. I don't care if I have to pay for it by myself ....I want the "new me" . I am excited and can't wait to continue this journey. Welcome by the way I hope everything works out for your interest . -73 lbs @ 6 weeks post op

The best deal I have found is 17k for a Mini Gastric Bypas. It seems to me that the lap band works for people who are not all that overweight to start with. And the stats are great on the MGB. Here in NC Dr Dasher and Dr Walsh in High Point do the surgery. They have done 500 so far and have a great record. I am scheduled there for July 11. And I cannot wait. This is a cash upfront price. $17,000 and includes EVERYTHING> anesthetic, surgeon, hospital all. Nobody could touch that that I spoke to. They work out of Regional Hospital http://www.highpointregional.com/ourservices/healthservices/gastricbypass/gastric_bypass.a sp High Point Regional Health System - Mini-Gastric Bypass Since I had no medical insurance and had to selfpay, price was very important. But their success rate is amazing. Lowe side effects than the RNY too. This appears to be the cutting edge surgery. And to beat it all, it is totally laproscopic. Amazing. David

There are so many variables....I've lost 118 lbs in 9 months and I'm 54 years old and at some point in about a year, I'll need the tummy/butt thing for sure. My face and arms and neck are not too bad though. Pam 282/164/145

I think there is a big difference between needing and wanting PS. My friend was 365 at the time of her surgery - she is now 4 years out and down to around 170ish. She doesnt need PS but would like PS. She is younger (29 now) and doesnt have much loose skin except for her stomach. Other areas she would want PS on would be arms and legs because she still has a lot of fat there as well as her breasts (they look fine for the most part just a little saggy). I would think it would be hard to say that you would have to have it... I would think its more of a want than anything. Just have to decide what you would be happy with beforehand

I weighed 321 at surgery, 367 previous to that. I am now at 133 2.5 years later. I have not had plastics. I have some arm issues, boob issues, shar-pei leg issues BUT I don't look bad in a bathing suit or sleeveless blouses for that matter. I could have plastics and would look like a model! Oh yeah I'm 60 in October!
