I have a desk job and my feet hur.

I have had the best recovery from weight loss surgery, I had an rny 6 weeks ago and i'm doing really good. However, my feet are at war with me. My right foot hurt like heck in the heel and they diaignose plantar faciitisis and now my left heel hurts all why up my ankle bone from my foot to my calf. It's terribly painful. This make no sense I walked alot after surgery and I couldn't take the pain anymore in my foot, so I saw the foot dr but he didn't do anythnig but wrap it. Now, I have two bum feet and I gotta keep moving for a change. Happy Easter - Jennifer Let me knwo any treatments I'm desperate and those surgival boots are not hot fashion

Jennifer I had terrible foot pains right after I had my surgery and up to about 5 months out!!! I had a lot of swelling in my feet and the doc said it was normal. The top of my foot hurt really bad and my ancles swelled up. It was something!! I had a lot of foot problems BEFORE my surgery too, due to my diabetes. My feet hurt because I had so much weight on them too. Thank goodness my feet don't bother me now. I think you will be OK in time. Good luck. Linda

Thanks. I"m fortunate they are not swelling, just huring bad. I am sure it's weight related. I'm sure some advil will help, but I know that's on the do not take list, along with may others. I might just have to soak my feet or something.

When I had plantar faciitis (sp?), the dr told me to wear Birkenstocks. It took about 2 weeks, but it got tons tons better. HTH.

Jennifer, I'm having surgery on my foot the first of May. He said I had a heel spur on the back of my heel, but he told me to use Ice for about 30 minutes on the back of my heel. He said that it would releive the swelling and pain, so far it has helped, also he said that special shoe inserts will help. Talk to your Dr. about that too. I fully understand about the boot thing. The one I have to wear is huge and heavy like a cast, I feel like one of the Borg's from Star Trek....Hope you get to feeling better soon. Have a good weekend.. Sandi

Hey Jennifer I still have problems with my left foot as a result of the complications of my surgery. I take neurontin for it daily and it seems to help. It isn't as painful as it once was, but from the ankle down my foot feels like it is asleep all day long. Even when I'm walking on it I feel like I'm going to fall over because it is asleep. You just have to keep going because you have no choice. An interesting note though...with the weight loss from the surgery your feet will get smaller. I didn't think my feet could get any smaller but they have. I started out at 363 pounds and even at that weight I had boney feet. I was a size 10 1/2 shoe. Now I weigh 209 (154 pounds lighter) and my shoe size is 9 1/2. I pray that it will get better soon so you can continue to walk. Larry

Thank you everybody. I was thinking of the birkenstocks. I know that my feet will hurt once I get the proper otho devices, but man, who know it be like this. ANy suggestions on sneakers?

Jennifer, I feel for you and I'm proof that it gets better. I was diagnosed a few years ago and thought I would DIE!!!! I wore the boots and had inserts made for my shoes. It takes LOTS of patience for them to heal, but they will. I promise. Not sure if that's what you wanted to hear, but I feel for you! Nancy

Jennifer, Get some heel cups to put in your shoes. Not the gel inserts but heel cups that your heel fits down in. My orthopedic doctor gave me mine and it felt so much better. Also, cortisone shots in your heels will bring almost immediate relief. Rhonda
