Sister Received Approval From BCBS Today!

My sister received the great news today!! Pat from Village Surgical in Fayetteville called to let her know she was approved. I am just hoping that I will hear the same soon from my appeal to BCBSNC. She is soooo excited. Hopes to have surgery in June when school gets out - She teaches kindergarten.

I'm so happy for you. I think that's one of the biggest moments you wait for. Pat called me on friday to tell me I was approved with BCBSncbluecare. I have surgery on april 20 and I can't wait to see where this will take me. I know my health will be improved 100%. My sister is a teacher also and plans to take the day off to be with me.

Donna, I am happy for your sister. I read your profile and I see you are awaiting appeal right now. My insurance is Pending. I go back next Thursday for a physical and appt with the nutritionist. Thats all I have left to do and then they can resubmit my paperwork to the insurance company. I also have BCBS of NC. We submitted everything they asked for the first time, but then they called and said they needed some other test. 1.Blood work (thyroid test) 2. more than 5 years past history weights. 3. a history and current physical performed by my surgeon, not family doctor. 4. Meet with Nutritionist. I am almost done with everything.... My last appt will be Thursday. I am hoping and praying for APPROVAL. I know how you feel wanting something so bad.... It doesn't seem fair that someone else is in control of our bodies and they have the ability to tell us weather or not we can have this surgery or not. I have been overweight for the past 15 years. I have lost weight many times on varius diets, but I alway gain 100% + weigh back each time. I currently weigh 237 lbs. My highest weight ever. I did lose almost 60 pounds on Weigh****chers almost 2 years ago and have already gained it all back plus 5 pounds. I am upset with myself... that I gained it back once again. I too have a sister that is very much over weight @400 lbs. I am so scared I will continue gaining until I am right there too. I need this surgery. I pray we will both get APPROVAL SOON> Best of Luck!!!

Wanda: Thanks so much for the reply. It helps to know that I am not the only one going through this ordeal - although I regret that you are having to go through this also. I hope so much that we both hear the great news of approval - maybe this week. Hang in there and Best of Luck to you too!!
