I have been a member of this website for a little while now. I have had my first appt with the doctor, met with the nutritionist and have my appt with the psychologist on monday. I know insurance is the biggest kicker always. But I noticed that someone had posted something about Cape Fear Valley Hospital wanting half of the payment for gastic bypass surgery. I was wondering what other patients have to say about Cape Fear Valley's payment record? Thank you all for your help ahead of time!

I don't know anything about Cape Fear. Sorry. What insurance do you have? Susan 3-23-06 231/231.5/150

Click on 'Peers' up above this post to the right, then choose NC, then click on sort by city. You can then email everyone from Fayetteville and see what hospital they used and what they had to pay. HTH.

Thank for the info guys. Any help is useful. I have set money aside, but I just don't want a big headache before surgery.

Hey Christina. Looks like if you have your surgery, we'll have the same doctor. I had surgery 3/20 and am doing great. I was reading some of the older posts and saw you'd asked questions about Cape Fear Valley but that you have BCBS ??? I have BCBS Blue Options (NC) and had no problems except with VS getting everything submitted like they were supposed to. If insurance approves you, Cape Fear will want all of your deductible paid before surgery. I was fortunate to only have a $250 deductible but I had a friend who had a $5000 and they wouldn't schedule until it was paid in full. I'm not sure what happens if insurance denies you and you plan to pay for everything out of pocket. To date, my bills have came to around $37,000 for everything. Of course, I'm still getting stuff in the mail. Let me know if you have any more questions. I'd like to follow your progress if you don't mind. Keep in touch and GOOD LUCK!!! Pam

Thank you. I had my psychologist appt on monday. It went really well. I was kinda scared I will have to admit. No one wants to hear those words...I think you're crazy LOL!! She thinks I will be approved by BCBS because I have a high BMI and a couple of co-morbidities.I have BCBC blue care with a $1000 deductible and a $3000 total max out of pocket cost. So far I haven't had any troubles with them. They have been great. Just really scared I don't have enough co-morbidities. Now I'm just waiting on Dr. Classen's office to get all of my info back and get the 2nd office visit pre-surgery. I'm crossing my fingers and my husband is praying. I finally told him last nite about the surgery. He just wants me to be healthy. He said he will love me no matter what weight I am.
