Good Morning Everyone: I'm working my first 12 hr weekend since my surgery, I hope I don't fall out..I ate some eggs this morning and it made me so sick. I threw up everything. It was so violent that I'm still shaking. I can't hardly type because of the shaking in my hands. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this. I feel really weak and shaky. What do you do when something like this happens? Thanks for any input....I'm working by myself this weekend...So ya'll send me good thoughts.... Sandi 239/198/130

Sandi, It sounds to me like you just "dumped". Most people experience this at least once after WLS. It usually happens when people eat something with high sugar content and it helps us stay away from stuff like that since we're not supposed to have it anyway. But I understand the feeling about eggs, if you scramble them, don't use butter or oil. Make sure they have cheese on them and I even use salsa to spice them up. The first eggs I tried to eat postop made me deathly ill and I waited for quite a while until I tried them again. Now I can tolerate them but not often. Anything greasy really makes me sick, so I stay away. Try poaching, its greasefree! Good luck and hope you feel better. Lynne

Thanks Lynne, I was wondering if I was dumping. I did it one other time and it caused cramps, heart palpations and I had to lie down. I've been sipping on sugar free orangeaid and I'm starting to feel better. So I'll be more careful with eggs... Sandi

Sandi, Good Morning....the first time I ate eggs I did the exact same thing..You are not dumping..you got very sick..and your body is responding. The shaking part and feeling very weak will go away..just drink something very, very slowly and give your pouch time to rest. DO NOT try to put too much back into it..and the next time you eat eggs you might consider taking one bite and wait to see how you are feeling. I ended up having to gradually eat eggs which is where I took one bite and stopped..the next time i took two bites..it will get better. If you ever have any questions just shoot me an email..I have had fun eating food..I pray the best for you on your journey. BLessings, Sue

Hello Sandi.... I posted a long time ago.. a helpful tip on eating eggs.. that a nurse told me about... this is for us WLS folks... It helped me and a few friends.... so try this.... as the eggs don't cause dumping... just something that your pouch has to get use to over time... Before eating the scrambled egg, take a bite or two of a dairy product.. like yogurt, cottage cheese, or even a sip or two of milk... something about the dairy product coats the pouch, making the scrambled egg easier to digest... I also find eating a boiled egg is easier too... today I am a year and half out, and once in a while an egg will still make me sick if it is scrambled, eggs are just one of those things..... a few friends scramble theirs in olive oil, not butter and that helps..... I agree too, that the cheese added will help.... Good Luck.. hope this can help.... but agian, eggs seem to be hard for some of us.... Good Luck and have a good day at work.. PS: I LOVE sugar free Orangeaid..... Mike C.

Thanks Mike, When I get this sick feeling out of my head, and think I can face another egg, then I'll know what to do....I appreciate it....Sandi

I'm 6 months out and still cannot handle eggs, and before surgery, eggs were nearly my favorite food. I can eat a boiled one, but that's about it, and only about once every other week, with plenty of salt on it. Whenever I've had an 'episode' like you described, I heat up a cup of Swanson's chicken broth, put a couple of drops of soy sauce, a couple of shakes of ginger and garlic in it. Eat that with a couple of saltines...that's what works for me. HTH.
