Anyone have sxy in Hickory, NC?

I am just beginning my journey to WLS. I am contemplating surgeons and would like to know if any of you have had surgery at Frye Regional in Hickory, NC, who your surgeon was and if you would recommend them. I am also looking at a surgeon in Charlotte, but leaning towards Hickory Surgical group and Dr. Cook or Dr. Cox. Any suggestions? Andra

Dr. Cook was my surgeon. He is excellent!! I would recommend him to anyone. The Bariatric Program they have here is wonderful as well. Good luck with whomever you choose. Dr. Cox is also good. I've met both of them and I don't think you will be disappointed once you get the chance to meet with them. Angie

Andra, I had surgery at Hickory just last week. Dr. Cook is my surgeon and I like him very much. A number of people have said he is a man of few words. I found him to be open and generous and warm hearted with a good sense of humor. More importantly is the care I feel he provides. I have absolutely no complaints at all about my care and treatment before or after surgery. The only person I found to be a stickler and I mean that she wasn't always helpful and had a way of making some things harder than they needed to be, was Lisa Craig who handles all the insurance matters. Becky, the nutritionist is absolutely wonderful to work with and Jock, clinical liaison, is terrific and he has duty shifts on the surgical floor. I wish you well on your journey. Be very patient. There is a lot of preparation to do up until you are taken into the surgical theater. If you want a timeline, I can let you know what mine was like. Many blessings, Maureen McGee

Andra, I had surgery with Dr. Cox six months ago. He is wonderful...a very kind and caring man. He never made me feel rushed and always answered any questions thoroughly. When I was in the hospital he came by everyday.....sometimes several times a day. The whole program there is very impressive to me. The Weight Loss Center has it going on! They know how to do this and keep a close eye on you through the whole process. They are all very friendly and very helpful. My support person was my brother, who happens to be a gastro nurse. He was a bit skeptical, but was by my side through the whole thing and even he left very impressed. Good luck and I hope all goes well with you! Nancy

Andra, My wife and I both used Hickory Surgical. We had Dr. Cox do our sugery. Our experince with him and the clinic has been wonderful. They are very professional and helpful thru our whole experince. You can read my profile if you would like. Best of luck on your journey! Ken
