GALLBLADDER

Has any one had to have their gallbladder removed before gastric bypass if so how long until you could have your surgery? Thanks in advance and also did you go to a different surgeon or the one doing the gastric bypass?

Misty I can't answer your question, I had my gallbladder out about 10 years ago. But I believe that some surgeons will take it out at the same time as the RNY. Depending on the surgeon. Good luck G.

I had gallbladder trouble before my Roux-En-Y, but all of the tests showed it was fine. I just had my gallbladder taken out on Thursday. My same surgeon who did my bypass removed my gallbladder.

Jennifer, I've had the same situation. I had a gallbladder attack back in August, but the ultrasound showed that I did not have stones, so they opted to leave mine alone. I had my RNY at the end of November and just had another attack in May and now they are showing stones. My same surgeon will remove it as soon as I decide to have it done. We had a big vacation planned and I wanted to wait until after it. Now I really want to wait until after summer so I can enjoy the pool before I have it done. I've only had one other attack since the first of May. Nancy
