I would like to say way2go and thanx for the support just by reading this. I am from NC and getting ready to have surgery. I would like to hear more about how long it took you from paperwork to surgery date. I am really anxious to get going on this. Hope to hear from you again. Angela

Hi Angela, Good luck on your upcoming preparations to get the surgery approved. Mine did not take long to be approved...I was fortunate! I began researching WLS in Feb., attended the educational seminar in April, submitted four years of my medical history and a letter of support from my family doc in April. Then I needed to track down a weight from 2002 and get T3 and T4 drawn(already had submitted TSH) so did that in May. Had nutritionist consul and psych consult the last week in May. Packet was sent to BC/BS the very end of May or start of June and I was approved in a week to ten days. My surgeon's office staff were wonderful... they told me exactly what I needed to get for them and then they sent it all in...I didn't have to call or deal with BC/BS at all. Good luck to you!!!
