???? Dr. Donald Balder - Conway, South Carolina

Hello, Are any of you members familiar with Dr. Donald Balder who works out of Conway, South Carolina? It appears he does more RNY surgeries than the lapband, which I hope to have.(Lapband) Initially, I planned to go to Mexico for my surgery. I found out he is very reasonable in price for the lapband and does all your after-care, which is very important. And, he is only about an hour or so away from me in the event any complications arise later on. I know most of the doctors over the border have more experience, but prefer to do this in the states if possible. I am a lower BMI so I have to wait and see if he will accept me as a patient. Just wondered if you or anyone you know has been a patient of Dr. Balder's? Thanks, Carol Slate

Hello Carol, I noticed your BMI was only 34, I thought a BMI of 35 with medical issues only was the way to have surgery or 40 without medical issues. I maybe not be correct in my thinking and lap band may be different ( I had a RNY , with a starting BMI of 47 ) . I have never heard the doctor's name you mention. Good luck and be careful. I also was self pay, but used a local surgeron ( Dr. Melkonian ) , here in Charlotte. I have heard of people using doc's in Mexico with great results, but I have also heard not so good experences. We can not put a price on our health, my thinking is my surgery is a new car, and in 5 years it will be paid for Allison

Is he with Dr. Anderson in Conway? I don't remember that name, but my doctor was Dr. Anderson and I dearly loved him!!! They worked with me at every angle and the hospital stay was great (as hospital stays go!!). Let me know if he's the partner with Dr. Anderson. Good Luck, Crystal
