Endoscopy tomorrow

Hi everyone, Tomorrow is my endoscopy...the last thing I have to do before my packet goes to approval. I'm so nervous about the approval process...as I've said in practically every post. ha! I will post when I know that my packet has gone. With the way things are going with some of us, I am not feeling at all confident about all my paperwork and results, etc. being where it's supposed to be. I am definitely going to be asking about that tomorrow. (I have to have lab work at the surgeon's office before reporting for the procedure.) The people that I talk to on the phone are knowledgeable, but when I stop by the office to drop something off, I am never quite sure that it's going to get where it needs to be. Hi Lisa. I'm in the middle of jumping through assorted hoops for my insurance. I am in the system at Brody with Dr. Chapman. Is that the same office as Dr. Pender is in? I'm interested in hearing about how things are going with you, as well as how the surgery goes. We just moved to Greenville from Charlottesville, where I was nearly ready to submit for approval. So now I have to start all over again, as my new insurance has some different requirements. Ah well, such is life. Take Care and keep us posted. ~Ellen

Hi Ellen, Dr. Chapman and Dr. Pender are in the same office. As I understand, Dr. Chapman is THE guy at BSOM, so you are very lucky. He was the person I was looking for when I first initiated my process because the buzz about him was so positive. Anyway, at first, I wasn't very happy. It wasn't a competence issue...I've never felt that my care wasn't top notch, but more one of patience from the staff. Everyone seemed a little too dismissive for my taste. But my recent experiences have been far better and I feel much more confident about my working relationship with the folks in the Dept. of Surgery now. ECU is an excellent medical school...consistently rated one of the top in the nation. And I learned during my research that it's bariatric program is also very well respected, so I am completely confident that we are both in safe hands in this program. We are you in Wville? We live off of Old Tar, loving it in Greenville so far. I was happy to have been assigned Dr. Chapman. He comes across as a very competent surgeon, and has a very good reputation. I talked to someone the other day that had Dr. Pender and her surgery went very smoothly as well. I think that we're both in good hands. ~Ellen

I forgot in my post yesterday, I will be having my endoscopy on Thursday. Let me know how yours goes. Did they give you any special instructions other than not eating after midnight? Mine doesn't say anything other than that. Good luck with the endo. ~Ellen

Hi Ellen, Good luck on your endoscopy tomorrow! Mine was pretty seamless. I got to the hospital right at 11 and was back home before 2pm. Never felt a thing...just a bit of nausea after I woke up from the sedative. all you have to do is be sure you haven't had anything to eat or drink...and that you have someone with you the whole time. They won't let you have the procedure if there isn't someone in the waiting room the whole time. Let me know how things go! Lisa
