10 weeks post op and nothing tastes right STILL
Ok, this is probably sill to some of you but it is so frustrating to me.
I am 10w PO and my mouth still tastes like crap and nothing I eat tastes normal. Does that make sense? Honestly, sometimes I just wanna cry, nothing is good anymore, nothing.
It is so hard to eat because when I do it doesn't taste good, like it should. Will this ever go away?

HI Susu,
You and I are out about the same amt of time. I haven't found much that doesn't taste good...except the protein drinks...I can only stomach the Isopure fruit drinks...I can't stand anything sweet...even Atkins products that are hi protein. I find regular foods okay, but I'm sticking mostly to hi protein stuff...meats, eggs, cheeses, whole wheat pastas and low carb wraps. The only veggies I can handle are tomato sauce/paste, spinach, zuchini, and I did try lettuce on a wrap and it was okay (yesterday). I also love watermelon, cantaloupe, and strawberries.
I'm so sorry your palate is not adjusting well right now. If you would like some recipes and a list of hi proten stuff I've found that I really like, email me and I'll be glad to send to you.
Jamey
I had a similar experience and looking back, I'm glad now that I wasn't looking for food that tasted good...I just thought it was part of the 'honeymoon' period and I only ate what I was supposed to eat and didn't really care, thinking that this was my body's way of making it easier to drop pounds...and looking at your weight loss, I'd say it's working. Believe me, before long your tastebuds will be back to normal and you'll have to start worrying about choices and quality...so, if you can, enjoy and celebrate this stage...you're so close to goal now..that's wonderful and your body is helping you do it!

I'm just about two weeks longer than you or Jamey since our surgeries and have a tough time enjoying many foods. I can't bear to drink any shakes or protein drinks. I can handle a couple of the bars: Q bars from Quaker, South Beach bars, and a few of the Slim Fast high protein bars. They all have a good amount of protein and carbs within the limits. My beverages are water, Tropicana diet orangeade, Strawberry-Kiwi Crystal Light (the mix because I make with extra water, and my one cup (OK, a big mug) of iced coffee that I nurse for a few hours at work.
Watermelon and seedless grapes (but I don't eat the skins) are my fruits of choice (I hope the peaches will be fantastic this year and I still love them.)
Meats are my worst food to deal with. I have had some grilled steak, steamed shrimp, and I finally hit a chicken recipe that I love -- chicken parmesan. I dusted breasts in Progresso Italian crumbs, sauteed in a little bit of olive oil. covered in sauce (I used a jar - you can use anything you prefer -- homemade or from a jar) then sprinkle with grated part-skim mozzarella cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. One chicken breast lasts me 3 days. I made this for supper for my sister and girlfriend and had plenty left over from just 3 breasts.
I basically don't like chicken at all but this one really was super delicious. And eggs, ugh!!! No way except in egg-drop soup and I've had egg salad twice and it was OK.
Just keep experimenting and remember what worked. I think it's just a phase on the timeline with our weight loss journey. I think if we are sure to get in our protein, water and vitamins that we'll grow out of this by about 6 months out.
Take care and don't get discouraged. Think how good you feel physically and jump up and down.
Warmly,
Maureen
