Ok everyone!! I've been approved!! Now I know I have seen post in the past, but of course I was too worried about being turned down to actually take it to heart. What are essentials to take to the hospital? and What are essentials to have at home when you come home? Any advice you all can give would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to being on the losing side soon!!

Congratulations Robin I am 5 days post op and the essentials I took were lip balm, pillow from home, bedroom slippers with non skid bottom, snap on robe to throw around you when walking, phone numbers of people to call after surgery, soft comfortable socks in case your feet get chilly, deodorant, toothpaste/toothbrush, hairbrush, soap, and unscented lotion (scented may be too much for immediately after surgery). I took a gown from home but only felt like wearing hospital gowns - They are so much more comfortable. I also took shampoo and hair dryer but due to iv being connected and drain in until time to leave I just took bird baths and waited till I got home to my own shower. I also carried magazines but never felt like looking at them - my guests however enjoyed them. Hope the suggestions help - Take Care!! Donna

hey girl, slippers or flip flops!!! Because you have to get up and walk around alot. They give you some socks with grips on them at ECU but, to me they were to tight so I kept taking them off and I had to get someone to come in and put them on me everytime before I walked, which I'm sure they loved. That and a word jumble book to entertain me and I was fine. Lulu

Hi Robin, I had a nice bag packed with gowns and robe all the other stuff I thought I would need, all I used was pillow, Toothpaste, toothbrush, I wore the socks they give you at the hospital, gowns and a second gown backwards to cover my behind when I walked. I didn't feel like any books or even TV. Wore the same clothes home that I wore there. Whos your Dr? Can't wait for you to get a date. YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEE! Hugs to you Perry W.

My honest opinion--as little as humanly possible---Lip balm is cool--and maybe a robe--but hey--dirty up their own clothes--and they will give you other essentials--so don't overload--someone will have to carry it all out! LOL! Best wishes! Lisa

Ditto on the advice posted here. Take as little as possible. Lip balm is a must. The hospital provides everythng else. Congrats! Nancy
