Need to find a Nutrionist in N.C.

I posted this on my other board but figured this would be a great place to look as well. My husband is in the military and we are currently stationed in Hawaii but he has a chance for a job in N.C. We are supposed to be PCS'ing in February/March of 07 but if this job comes through it will be this December. He has asked me to do some research online and find a nutritionist and possibly surgeon to keep up with my appts. All of my medical information will be going into his file and he just wants to make sure it's all in order. We've been looking at houses in the Raeford area. I've only driven through N.C. on my way to Maryland and don't know much about the area or the towns. Is this a nice town, good schools? Any information at all would be helpful. Our new base would be Fort Bragg. Thanks in advance, Jamie

Hi Jamie, We live in Fayetteville...Raeford is about 30 minutes away...it is out in the country, pretty but rural...don't know if the schools are good there. We have been pleased with the Cumberland County Schools (Fayetteville, Hope Mills, Spring Lake). These would be much closer to Fort Bragg if that is an issue... Sorry I don't know about nutr. but Drs. Davidson and Classen are excellent (they are in Fayetteville). They and Cape Fear hospital together have been rated a "Center of Excellence" in bariatric surgery. ...I've heard that there are four Centers of Excellence in NC for bariatric surgery, but don't know who the others are. I am planning on Dr. Classen doing my surgery...awaiting nut. appt and psych. appt. Good luck! Tamara

Hello Jamie, Glad to have you coming to bragg. I have live in nc my whole life but I have only lived in spring lake (5 miles from bragg) for 3 months. I see a weight loss surgeon on June 23rd at womack army hospital on bragg. So far everyone has been nice. I can't wait for date. Being new I do not know many dr's yet but when I have my app I let you know who they are. Good luck in your move!!

Dr Mitchell and his nutrtionist in Pinehurst are fabulous. Also about 30 minutes from Raeford. Belinda
