I never liked spaghetti squash personally. It looks like pasta but that's where it stops in comparison. I've tried the Nupasta http://www.nupasta.com/ and love them. I've gotten them at Sobey's in the health food section. They have virtually no flavor so they take on the flavor of whatever sauce or seasoning you use. They have zero net carbs (6 carbs with 6 grams of fiber). I feel these are an excellent substitute for pasta and something you might be interested in trying. They come in individual packages and I just use a little bit of it and freeze the rest. Just an FYI!

Topic: RE: Skin Surgery?

I'll know more after my next appointment but my bariatric surgeon said it would be around $10,000 for the full tummy tuck and lipo. My approval letter doesn't have a dollar amount on it but the plastic surgeon said it'd be around $3,700 I think. There's two ways to do the tummy tuck, 1) the 360' belt where you're cut all the way around, below the belly button and the top is pulled down and the bottom (panni), including legs, cut and pulled up to meet at the incision line; and 2) the anchor method which he's recommended for me which removing the panni portion, which is a cut along the pelvis, side to side, then straight down the middle, below my breast bone, pulling from either side, cutting and meeting in the middle. He'd also do lipo suction to my upper legs at this time in preparation for my second surgery over the winter / spring (I have a foot surgery slated for February, where I'll be laid up for 8 weeks so it could be early spring before my second plastic surgery).

My second surgery would involve pulling and removing my excess leg skin up with the incision lines at my groin, then a full backside lift along the back to meet my front anchor incision. I also want to get a breast lift and my arms done, and I'm hoping to combine these in with the two surgeries instead of having to have a third. I'm guessimating $20,000 - $25,000 for the total body.

It's pricy, I know but it's a one time thing and once this is over, I'm done! I've been with a personal trainer since last June to help get me ready, I've lost 60 lbs with him and feel I'm almost as far as I can go there. I have maybe 10 more pounds to go and then I think I'll be at my set point or place where I can maintain. I'm three years out and still battling every day to stay on top of it. I'm not near as loose as some but I have some skin to lose and that will account for probably 10 pounds as well. I'm looking forward to getting body contouring and it will also be a good, albeit pricey, incentive to maintain the loss and stay on track. I hope that helps a little and like I said, I'll have more specifics after my July 14th appointment.

WOW!  That's amazing!  Do you have any idea what your out of pocket cost would be for this procedure?  I am soooo happy for you......

Thanks again for the update!  My sister had the RNY done in November so I have been going by what she has said, but it's not the sleeve.  She was off for 2 weeks, but then she eased back into work on the 3rd week then was full time by the 4th week.  Just nice to know what to expect!

I am glad to hear there are recipes on Pinterest....actually, I am always on it, but never thought to look for recipes on there....If you find any interesting ones, please share!  I also plan on avoiding pasta, breads, rice, potatoes.....but may still eat a bit eventually!  I also really like the idea of lettuce wrapped sandwiches and burgers etc.!  Very excited about that....as for the zucchini noodles and spaghetti squash, my sister got the machine to make the noodles....she likes it....I did try spaghetti squa**** was OK.....she like sauce on it....but I couldn't imagine it taking the place of spaghetti!  LOL!

As for exercise, I have an ultimate goal to join a cross fit gym but will exercise at a normal gym until I am ready for that type of exercise....got to have a plan and goals! I know this will help me with all that....

Good luck once again....yes, please update!!!!  very interested....hope you have a good week!!!  Thanks for sharing....

I had the sleeve.  I was told that I could go back to work after two weeks, and brought my surgeons note clearing me to return with a lifting restriction of between 10-15lbs.  Because of scheduling conflicts I've ended up being off for four.  I've been on call this week if someone calls in sick (this is my fourth week off) but so far no one has.  I am returning to scheduled shifts starting this Sunday, I'm actually looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

My plan is to avoid pasta and breads, anything heavily carb laden for a good long while, if not forever.  I've been pulling a ton of recipes off Pinterest and am looking forward to things like zucchini noodles, spaghetti squash, and lettuce wrapped sandwiches or cucumber wraps filled with meat and cheese.  I have a trainer that I'm looking forward to getting back to work with, and am thinking of maybe going to the lap swim at the indoor pool.  Not sure whether I'll get a member**** for that just yet.

Early next week I should be moving to the pureed and soft food phase.  I'll let you all know how that goes :)

I received approval from the province (PEI) for the abdominal pannectomy (lower stomach). I'll have to pay for the remainder of the surgery  but every little bit helps. My next appointment with Dr. Jayson Dool is July 14th where we'll finalize plans for my first surgery and sign off on the surgery. I've been put on the surgery list for the fall (guessimated to be October).

Topic: 6 weeks post-op and on a weight loss stall

Felling a lot better. Happy to be able to eat regular food again. But am currently on a weight loss stall. Only lost a few pounds in the last 3 weeks. I know it's normal but it's still not fun. Seeing  the weight fall so quickly at the beginning was amazing to see and soooo motivating during the not soo fun/sad times. Started working again this week and was very happy to have started real food before coming to work. It made it easier to plan and know what I could/couldn't eat. I can eat more of certain foods and a lot less of others, it's a trial and error thing.  My go to foods now are Premier Protein drinks from Costco, Greek yoghurt, cheese and meat (mostly chicken and pork). Started working out last week too and started using a FitBit. I was surprised at how motivated it makes me. Will keep you posted on my progress

I am so happy to hear you are doing well!  And very happy you posted this update!  I just have a couple of questions, if you don't mind me asking....how long were you off work?  I had heard about 3 weeks....  Also, did you have the sleeve or the RNY?  I thought you had said  sleeve, but can't remember....LOL!

I too am looking forward to NOT being able to eat certain things due to surgery.  I already have a plan in my head and believe the surgery will help me too in getting to my goal.

I wish you all the best in the next few weeks!  Please keep us posted!  Good luck getting back in the swing of things! Sure hope things go well!

OMG!  Guess I will just have to wait and see!  What are you going to do??  Try and see if you can get it paid, or just not going to do it?
