A coworker and friend went on a shopping trip this weekend and brought back our department whoopie pies. OMG 370 calories and it looks like it will melt in ones mounth.

How do I refuse this without offending her ? ?? I have refused cakes cookies , candies it seems on a daily basis.

Everyone at work knows I had a lap band  but it is like they think it is majic. I actually had one person say to me she was amazed I could so much when I was eating 1/2 cup cottage cheese and grapes for lunch. I hav estopped going to the break room at breaks and lunch I try and go to the gym at lunch and walk with another person at break to get a coffee.

Everyone asks me like weekly how much weight have you lost and I have really be hovering this past month I am down 42.8 pounds it seems like forever. I have become so fixed on teh scale I weigh myself three times a day. I know I have lost inches and I feel so good (aside from the hunger) What do I do ??

I am really trying to do what the lap band site says three meals a day no snacks but my stomach is growing today had the stuck last night so I am trying to be careful I get a fill on May 15 under fluro again just wondering what others think how do you get yourself past these days? I wish I were closer to Moncton I would go to the clinic and see the shrink.

For these reason, this is why I decided not to tell people that I had the surgery, I didn't want my whole life and eating schedule put under a microscope and have eveyone making comments all the time and asking me how much I have lost.  But to each their own!!!!

I would just simply say no to the sweets and I wouldn't worry about offending anybody because it is my hips that the whoopie pies stay on, not hers....LOL...of course that is just me!!!

Well Figler, you are in the medical field and therefore your coworkers are health care workers too. That makes it a bit easier as they do understand the correlation between sugar consumption and weight gain.

When someone brings sweets to your department say something like "yumm that looks good. Don't be offended but I can't eat those" After a while they will stop but if you say nothing they will never know it bothers you.

Now the next thing is, you are the only one who has had lap band and the world won't change to accommodate you. You will have to change to accommodate them. Now that being said, you need to not be hungry when these goodies arrive. Eat good snacks. It is much easier to refuse junk when you are not hungry

It would suck to have co workers always asking about your weight. That would drive me nuts. Maybe you could say you only weigh yourself once a week or even once a month so whenever they ask just say "I haven't weighed myself for quite awhile so I don't know" Repeat that every time they ask and after awhile they will no longer even ask. .

No one knows I have had bypass so they bring me sweets all of the time. Christmas was especially hard. Finding creative ways to refuse almost everything.

Why are you not eating snacks? I always eat a healthy snack, consisting of a protein & a fruit. Your stall might be due to the fact that you are not eating enough! Your lunch would be a great  snack.

I eat a lot of soup and vegetarian dishes with lots of beans, greens, that kind of stuff. My snacks can be anything from almonds & dates to cheese & grapes. Dinner is similar to lunch. Since I started this joutney, I have only put on weight once, when I was overdue for a fill. I have had success with this method so I thought I would share.

Hope this is of some help.

Jet is right. If you are trying to match what some of the folks from the US are doing, it is far more restrictive than what our doctors recommend. You need a cup to a cup and a half of food 3 times a day plus 2-3  100 calorie snack for the first 6 months or more. If you are active , you need more calories. You can stall you weight loss by not eating enough, or by not enough protein. You weight loss will stall with irritating regularity and nothing will change that. Starving yourself will not help. When you are in the green zone with your band, you won't be hungry, and you don't have to be hungry all the time now.....just some of the time.

BTW I try very hard not to be perfect with it comes to my food choices. I do have treats and desserts. I just do my best to have few treats and to be sure that whatever I have is worth it.... like cheesecake. Though I agree with you about all the goodies that are brought to work, but if they stopped completely, my best source for a small, worth-it treat, that a continuing temptation in my cupboard!
