Can you tell me if you had the mini bypass--if so, do you know where he learned it? Is he associated with Dr Rutledge of Nv (who has been a forerunner in this procedure)? I'm trying to find a very good dr competent with that procedure in particular, but don;t wish to have the surgery in the States , primarily due to cost but also a few other reason. Thank you!

Hi there! I had mini gastric bypass in Mexico 6 weeks ago with Dr. Jose Castaneda in Puerto Vallarta. Excellent surgeon in a small hospital (CMQ Premier). I am doing well. Still learning what works for me and what doesn't. So far I have lost 27 pounds and am feeling MUCH better. Blood pressure and morning blood sugars are already normal. Yahoo!

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.
Topic: Anyone about 5'1-5'3" and start at around230-250?
I started at 243 and am 5'1" I was wondering if anyone else started around this wieght and height would like to share their before and after pics or let me know how their journey was/ is. I know everyone is different but i love seeing the pictures and I am so excited. I am only 8 days out and have lost about 11 pounds I don;t know if thats good or bad but hey I will take anything I can get. Thanks a lot everyone.

Hi,
Your insurance company should have a list of surgeons in their network. Also, they can tell you if they cover weight loss surgery and which procedures. So I would suggest you contact them first. Once you find out if they do cover weight loss surgery, do a lot research on the procedures and the surgeons. I have been hearing some bad stuff about surgeons who were not really qualified and it is sad. Sorry I couldn't give you more help but I am not familiar with your insurance company.

harvard vanguard to be specific
this stuff confuses me so much and to be honest really scares me :/ if i cant get it covered through insurance i dont think that ill be able to do it but if i dont do it soon eh just want my life to quit bein bad so i really want to ge tthis soon and would appreciate if someone could help me out
i need to find a surgeon? i guess that does this sort of thing and that takes harvard vanguard health insurance....and like is there more i have to do?
im sorry this sounds all confused im in the midst of a semi panic attack or something and feel massively quesy reading about this stuff (the surgery not the insurance :p) and yeah :/ if someone could help out it would be fantastic

Sorry you are having such a hard time. It would seem that the lapband did not work for you. If your doctor wants to do a gastric bypass, this is an option you have. I had mine 11 years ago and would do it again in a heart beat. I know that everyone is different and my results may not be the same as yours. My suggestion that while you are deciding, you do some research on the various gastric bypass procedures out there. Look at the pros and cons as well as the long term affectiveness of the procedure. The more you KNOW the better you will feel about your decision. Hang in there and keep in touch on your journey to a healthier you!

Help how long will it take to recover I have the bank 4 1/2 years not I had a slip and was never the same I lost 120 total not im up to 320.

Hang in there, Do what youc can each day...Get educated about what you need to be doing/ eating now, to get the most from your band, and research the surgery you want... take it daily and take care of yourself...Love those babies by taking care of yourself...
