Topic: RE: Florida Medicaid/Medipass pay for Gastric bypass surgery??
Yes they do. I have the First Coast Advantage plan with Medicaid. It may depend on which plan you are enrolled in. I am waiting on my approval to come back. Which plan are you on? You should call them and inquire.

Elizabeth,

I had my surgery VSG in April 2011 and have lost nothing. And I mean not one pound. I too can eat a lot of food. I did have a lap band in 2005 and Had it taken out in Dec 2010, then waited to have the VSG per my doctor's request. I don't know what to do next? I am broken hearted and I also paid cash. Not sure why this happened, but it has made me very depressed. Thanks for listening.

Topic: Vitamin D3 10K UI available at local Walgreens 2 for 1 Sale

Just FYI -- If you need to take dry Vitamin D3, Walgreens stocks Natrol 10K UI Vitamin D3 tablets in their stores and has it online. It is regularly 9.99 for 60 tablets, but right now they are having 2 for 1 sale. I'm going to head over to my local Walgreens and pick some up.

BTW, not all Vitamin D3 you find at the local drug store is equal. If you have had a malabsorbtive procedure you can't absorb it using the gel caps and need the dry, tablet version. Here is the URL the online information for this product so that you can order online or know what to look for if you go into your local store. http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/natrol-vitamin-d3-10%2c000- iu-dietary-supplement-tablets/ID=prod6063891-product

Topic: Do you know that your new body shape is?

As our body shapes change it can be a challenge to dress our 'new' bodies so that we emphasize our new assets and minimize our new challenges. I certainly don't want to tell anyone what their personal 'style' should be, but I found a fabulous resource that helps define what your new body shape is with a Body Shape Calculator and then provides tips to dress each shape to maximize the shape we have.

Here is the url for the Body Shape Calculator:http://www.shopyourshape.com/calculate-your-body-shape.html. It's like having your own Gok Wan or Stacy and Clinton to help you with which shapes will work best to show off your new 'Shape.'

Have fun!

Topic: RE: Getting back on track
I had my surgery on Oct. 14th, 2003.  I am almost seven years out.  I too would like to do something to lose at least another 20 pounds.  I did meet goals and lost too much.  The doctor gave me medication so I would eat.  I gained 8 pounds in one month.  NEVER had I BEEN TOLD TO GAIN WEIGHT ever in MY LIFE!  Now that I have gained a total of 18 pounds back, I want it off again.

I have lost my left kidney.  I also have the right one going down.  The diet for gastric bypass patients is most definitely not the diet for renal failure.

HELP!  What should I do?

Hi,

First of all I would get some tests run to make sure there is nothing else going on such as Thyroid.  What kind of surgery did you have? Have you maintained your healthy eating choices and activities?  Any high stressers going on?  There so many things that can get in the way of losing weight.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

You can find the answers by talking with bariatric professionals.  We on these boards can give you information about our experiences but for the medical questions, talk to the professionals.  I do know that many wls patients still count calories after surgery.  Many count grams making sure they get their protein and the right amount of carbs.  It just depends on what their surgeon recommends.  Anyway, you don't have to stay in the dark about wls if you continue to research and ask questions.
