Thanks SJ I do Tums before bed but at times I forget and its touch an go. I was just concerned that the Acid does damage to the stomach but what exactly does it do to the throat?
I snack a lot in the evening so I try as best as possible to stick with veggies and some fruits like Bananas to manage the Acid not sure what others do,

I take prevacid every night before I go to sleep.  However, you may want to ask your doctor what he/she recommends.  This needs to be addressed because the acid will do harm to your throat.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Hi guys,
I had my MGB about 2 years ago and all is real well but I still suffer from heartburn. The worst part is waking up now and then in the middle of the night with the burning chest pain and the pinching pain in my right arm. It feels like your having a stroke and your trying to catch your breath for air! I try to consume non acid producing foods in the evening and keep the anti-acid pills next to my bed so I can pop one or two incase I feel the acid surge....

OK folks...clearly there are enough of us in or near Charm City to get our own little support group going.  It seems as if Sunday afternoons might be the best time.   Say 3 PM?

Let's meet, at least for the first time, as proposed at the Canton Starbucks on Boston Street, where parking should be easily available.

Shall we try for this Sunday or wait for next?

Topic: RE: financing?
Hi there,

That is a good question.  I have been wanting to get some plastics done and face the same issues.  There are a lot of creative ways to raise money.  Fundraisers, sales, bake sales, and I could go on.  I don't know much about you but maybe your church, if you go to one, can have an event to help you raise money.  I don't encourage people to get loans because that is just more debt but it is an option.

I wish I was more help but life is hard money wise and I think we all struggle with having enough.

Topic: Consider who you are talking to...

I recently was watching a show on TV that had a counselor on the show who was addressing self image issues. They had a couple of women write down the things that they tell themselves about how they look. Many of us might be able to relate to litany of comments they made about 'thunder thighs', 'muffin tops', 'bat wings', 'turkey necks', etc... After writing them down, the ladies where then asked to tell the other person that they had 'thunder thighs', 'muffin tops', 'bat wings', 'turkey necks', etc... Each of the ladies were intensely uncomfortable about doing so and when asked why they were so uncomfortable, they said because they wouldn't want to say such mean things to stranger, much less a friend. Then, the counselor asked them why it was okay to be so mean to themselves, when they wouldn't consider being so mean to a friend or stranger? Both women agreed that they might reconsider before making such disparaging remarks to themselves about themselves.

Next, they asked them to look at themselves as though they were looking at a friend or stranger and then describe themselves from that perspective. They both provided much more gentle, compassionate, and complimentary assessments of themselves.

I think it's important that we consider that what we say to ourselves about ourselves. What we tell ourselves helps to shape how we see ourselves in literal and figurative terms. How we see ourselves also often makes a difference in how treat ourselves and take care of ourselves.

So consider who you are talking to... and be sure to be gentle, kind and compassionate with yourself.
