Hi there,

I am sorry for your loss.  There was a time not too long ago that I lost both parents and a sister.  Time does heal but it does take time.  You have acknowledged many things about yourself and why you have gone off track.  It is good that you know this.  Now, you need to focus on getting healing for your loss and start on the road to recovery.  Talking a grief counselor is one way to go.  Many times we think we can surgically remove the hurts, disappointments, bad happenings and we can't.  This is an emotional thing that takes place in the head.  This is where the focus should be.  Once you come to terms with all of it, then work on getting back on track.  You could get a pouch the size of a pea but it won't take away the emotional turmoil you are going through.

I guess what I am saying is to start with working through the trauma, gain some peace.  Then, when you feel you are ready, talk to a nutritionist or if you know good nutrition already, try Weigh****chers.  It is a normal eating program that helps you choose what to eat in a healthy way.  FInd an activity you enjoy and start "moving".  I enjoy Curves.  It's safe, fun and fast.  But you may find something else. Most importantly, get into a good support group and go to it.  People helping people is very powerful.

There is nothing wrong with going through a detox program.  I need to do that myself.  I feel all clogged up.  There are many good cleansing aids at GNC or other health food stores.  I'm preaching to myself here too!

I know I didn't have the magic cure but with us, it is always a work in process.  Life is hard enough with or without weight loss surgery.  I hope I helped.

I had Bypass in Nov. 2007..I have been very successful and have dropped 168 pounds.  I have noticed though that the last 4-5 months I have started to see the scales creep up.. I have gained about 40 pounds and need to get this under control before it becomes a much larger issue.. I realize I am an emotional eater, I have been taking care of my sister who had Ovarian Cancer for the last year, I lost her in Feb. I somehow have to find my way back to health, and need to stop this crazy eatting..

I have heard that there is some sort of pouch cleanzing, or reshrinking if you will.  Have any of you heard of this??  I have gone back to group and am trying my best to get back on target but am having a really tough time... PLEASE HELP...any info would be helpful

Hi,

LOL! I just love to hear WOW moments.  It will take awhile before you stop seeing yourself as a big person in the mirror.  It will come to pass, in time.  These are exciting days for you!

I am on my 13th year so WOW moments are almost nonexistant now but I am blessed and thankful that I have good health and working to keep the weight off.

Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Topic: Few NSV'S
Here are a few strage nsv's that happened this past week that i'd like to share. some are funny others are disappointing but still nsv's...

1)Last night I went to go pick up my niece to spend the night...my sisters fiance hasnt seen me since surgery...when I walked into the bed room where he was he goes "where's the rest of your body " lol i could have died laughing because I had on a dress that was too small 2 months ago. now it fits pretty good.

2) My work uniform is much to big now..but i've been trying tohold out until i just couldnt wear them anymore...i was walking and one girl said "you're about to lose your pants!" I reached down and yes they were dangling from my hips! lol it was pretty funny because these peeople dont know i had surgery ..now they want to know what my "secret" is

3) I met and started casually dating a guy about a month ago...we were having a light conversation after a movie and I asked him what his type of female was physically...he goes on to say how he loves a variety of females but that he doesnt like "fat chicks"...i paused ...and i said well you must really like me because I'm a heavier female...he looks at me puzzled and goes "no, your definitely not"...so after a light debate i realized i still look at myself as the big girl despite having lost about 50lbs in 2 1/2 months.  he doesnt know about my surgery yet so...

4) i wore a nice nighty for the first time and felt comfortable.

 Hi

Please contact me before you decide.  My story could be crucial in what you decide.  Although I did not have Dr Hargroder I did have Dr Rutledge who taught Dr H.  I love Dr H and I am glad he got away from association with Dr Rutledge.  The MGB was the worse decision I have made.

Hi,

A lot of wls patients do Weigh****chers and have good success. Again, relearning to eat right and developing a healthy relationship with food is the goal.  Sometimes this requires more support than just trying to do it alone.  For new postops, the three stages are liquids, soft foods, then regular foods. Pre-op diets would be a food plan that is a healthy eating plan that is monitoring your fats and carbs similar to Weigh****chers.

All the suggestions I made were ways you can start over with some added support.

What does your doctor say about exercise?  Are you getting PT now?
