I had no idea our starting stats were so similar, Paula! That's pretty neat :)
Kind of cool to see someone that started out literally the same weight / height as me and how you've done.
Thanks for being so active on the board - you're an awesome possum! :)

Thanks for getting back to me!
I'm so active now I just naturally eat pretty good because my body needs it with all the sports I am involved in.
Can't believe it's already been this long and how much changes.
Definitely have to say that it's been an interesting, positive, life-changing journey!

Topic: RE: Can someone tell me what mini-bypass entails?
Hi there,
Well you are talking about apples and oranges here. Both are totally different with different results. Research has shown that the lap-band's long term results are not that good. Although some people have had good success with the band. Basically, all it does is give you the feeling of fullness. For some people, this is enough. For others, they need more support so they opt for a surgical procedure like the MGB or RNY for example. You have to decide what you need. Doing research and asking questions is a great way to come to a conclusion. To read more about the MGB, go to http://clos.net. Give your self a good chunk of time because the website is a big one. By the time you finish reading it through, you will have a good understanding about the MGB. For me, it was the best thing I ever did and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi,
Yes, I had some regain but that was my fault. I got lazy and ate all the wrong things. Now I am back on track, at least with the lazy part and trying to eat healthy. This has been a wonderful experience for me.

WOW! Can't believe in January it'll have been 2 years since my MGB.
I fluctuary between 120-130lbs and have clothes sizes 0-4.
Woot woot!
Live my everyday life fairly normally - play lots of sports, eat healthy, drink lots of water.
How time flies!!
My sister had the RNY and had 4 years she's had about 40lbs of regain - she came with me down to Vegas when I had Same day surgery with Dr R and she keeps thinking about a revision to the MGB.
Long term regain - anyone found that with the MGB? Impression I'm getting is that as long as you keep on keeping it's far less with the MGB than with most WLS??
Is this the case?
Thanks for your help and keep on' keepin'! :)

Topic: RE: Why does MGB have a bad reputation?
The "studies" of patients that Rutledge touts are all based on self report of his patients. This is not good science. Anyone who has had complications from thier MGB, like myself and finds another doctor are no longer included in those surveys. He told me I had a 7 foot bypass, as it turns out, he bypassed almost my entire small intestine. For 3 years I was sick. I am not the only one. He is no longer working in Nevada. Does anyone know if there are any current lawsuits in Nevada against him? I am very curious. My Canadian health insurance paid for my revision from MGB to RNY, but I know several people in the states who need help and will have to pay for all tests and surgeries on thier own.
Topic: RE: Hair Loss (telogen effluvium) 3yrs AFTER MGB - vitamin deficiancy?
Hi,
Getting your blood work results may open up some reasons why you are having hair loss at this stage. I too have not been good with my supplements (preaching to myself) but have not had any hair loss issues. I too had thick hair way back when and I didn't get it all back but that's ok. It was too much for me to handle anyway so I am happy with my results.
Keep us posted on what's going on ok?
