“You have dreams for your future. Here's how to make sure they aren't just fantasies.”
Someone once said, "To dream alone is fantasy if it doesn't move you to act." Are your goals dreams or merely fantasies? Fantasies are stuff that sounds good in your head but rarely has basis in fact. No prince is going to show up at your door in a white Rolls Royce, much less on a horse. Your fairy godmother will not show up, sprinkle some fairy dust and "poof" turn you into Jennifer Lopez. Dreams on the other hand are possible but they are not magic just because we call them dreams. You have to not only imagine what you want, what you aspire to be, you must also form a plan and implement it. Dreams are doable if you're a doer.
Why was the MGB the worse decision you have made? Thanks
“You find support online to reach your goals, and that is great, but here's why you need a live social network.”
You might think the more you are involved in real, face-to-face activities the more likely you are to get sick. Just the opposite is true. Research shows that people who have positive social interactions (like friends) get sick less frequently. It also boosts your morale, brings you joy, and reacts on your psyche in a way the impersonal internet can't. So hanging out with friends, going to church, or volunteering may be just the boost you need.
“You reflect on past failures and it's hard to stay on course. Here's how to blaze a new trail.”
Many years ago, no one thought the sound barrier could be broken. Then, some attempted to prove that theory wrong. Many men tried to make their mark in history but fell short. In October 1947, Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier. Why did he succeed while others failed? At those speeds, the plane would shake violently, feeling like pilot or plane would not survive. Previous pilots quit when it was so bad, not wanting to risk the unknown. Chuck pushed through the turbulence and held out to experience unprecedented success. Are you willing to risk it all to reach your goals? To experience a little pain, some discomfort? What if you stuck it out? What if you went in knowing it would be hard and decided you were strong enough to tough it out for the glory on the other side?
“You say you want to change your life. Here's how to put words into action.”
Corey Booker, former mayor of Newark, NJ once said, "How you live speaks so loudly I can't hear what you say." How are you living? Is your voice reflected in your actions? It's easy to talk about things we want to change, but when our actions actually show that we mean what we say, that's when real change takes place. Maybe it's time to stop thinking, talking, and planning. Take the first step is doing. Accept cir****tances as they are or take steps to change them.
“You want to eat better, but until someone lights a fire under you it’s not going to happen. Here's how to feel the burn.”
The cold, hard truth is that most of us will eat healthier to look or feel better before we’ll do it to lower our risk of disease (like heart problems, diabetes and cancer) 69% vs. 18%. However, the old saying is still true today: -An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.- A recent study shows that every dollar invested in prevention produces four times the results vs. each dollar spent in treatment. Not only is it better, easier, and less expensive to do things that prevent disease than to try to deal with them once they happen just imagine your quality of life. If you think you’d be motivated to start eating better if you had a diagnosis of diabetes, then why not just do it now and avoid the whole thing? Not only will you prevent many issues, you’ll immediately start to look better and feel better the two things that motivate us the most. It’s a complete win-win situation.
“Your day just got crazy and you’re plotting on skipping your workout. Here’s how the plot thickens.”
Once you start thinking skipping your workout is an option, the likelihood of you going gets very slim. Skip two workouts in a row and you’re 60% more likely to skip the next one as well. Instead, think of reasons why you should go, why you want to go. Being too busy to workout is a bad excuse. The truth is your workout can make you far more productive. If you work out over lunch it’s a fact that you’ll have more energy during the afternoon. If you’re on a trip and your time is limited, work out in your hotel room: Jog in place, do jumping jacks, and use water bottles as weights. Employ a no-excuses workout plan and you’ll be surprised how easy it is to get ‘er done.
“You are shooting for a big goal. Here's how to get there with small successes”
You have to remember that getting fit is more like a marathon than a sprint. While you may have one big, long term goal, set small weekly or monthly goals to get you there. This way, you'll be able to track your progress and your smaller successes will keep you motivated. Make sure you celebrate your goals too. Indulge by buying a new nail polish, getting a massage (even if it’s from your spouse), or curling up with a hot tea and a good book.
I remember in the beginning I could only sip liquids. I wasn't able to drink normal for quite awhile. As for diarrhea, keep an eye on it. You don't want it to last for days. This will definitely dehydrate you. Mixing gatorade and water would help keep you hydrated. Gatorade by itself is a bit strong but if you can tolerate it than go ahead and drink it straight.
