Good morning, I'm glad with your weight loss.  I just signed up on this web site.  It looks like I will be having the same surgery with the same doctor.  In terms of insurance, did you file a claim for the full amount?  Did they reimburse you for the amount or did your insurance company deal with them directly?

Topic: recent surgery
I had my MGB on Jan 3rd, and tho it was quite recent I have to say, it was a ver easy surgery, minimally invasive, and I had no complications.  I was up and walking the first day, and went home 2 days later.  I have had no pain or nausea, and am pretty much up and doing everything as though I never had surgery at all.  (Although I consider myself lucky to have had the surgery when I did as I was able to use that as an excuse to conn my grandson into shoveling my snow laden drive-way.  I am in Colorado, and thank goodness I am not cleared for snow removal just yet!) I was on clear liquids for the first week, then graduated to full liquids, and tomorrow I start my soft foods. This surgery literally saved my life!   Colorado Granny [email protected]

I had MGB on jan 3, 2007 and had no idea it was such a rarity.  I was up and walking the first day with no pain or nausea and home from the hospital in 2 days.  I was on clear liquids initially, then went to full liquids 4 days ago.  Tomorrow I go to soft foods, and I feel good and haven't struggled after this surgery as I have with others.  (Gall bladdar removal, hysterectomy.)  Laproscopic surgery rules!

Hi Miss Sandy, Thanks for the response.  Yes, I did call Dr. Rutledge but none of his suggestions are working for me.  I will have to find a solution, one way or another, soon though as I cannot go on like this.

Hi, I, too, saw the program and am so glad the word is finally getting out!  I read all the horror stories on here about other surgeries, and as I sit here 200 pounds lighter, healthier and happier. I am so glad I found the MGB! Sandy

Hi,

Have you called Dr. Rutledge directly?  His personal number is on CLOS.net and I bet he'd advise you or even put you in touch with someone who has been through this.  I have heard of very few revisions, but the nice thing about the MGB is that it CAN be revised!

Good luck.

Sandy

Topic: RE: Weston FL - MGB - Rosenthal
Hi,   The Mini Gastric Bypasswas developed by Dr. Robert Rutledge and he has only two doctors in the US trained to do this surgery. (See CLOS.net for information.)  I don't know if this is another type of surgery someone is calling the MGB, but the "original" is only done through these docs. Sandy

Hi everyone! Happy new yr. I'm inquiring about MGB and if anyone on here has had or discussed the MGB procedure with Dr Raul Rosenthal @ Cleveland clinic.  He did my RNY in 2005 and now my 21 yo son is looking @ this as an option. I want to educate myself about the procedure.  Thanks in advance for any help! Barbi

Topic: Partial revision of MGB
Hi, I'm new here and would appreciate hearing from anyone who may have, or may know of someone who has had a revision of the MGB procedure.  I am almost 4 years post-op and have lost 203 pounds so by any opinion would be considered a huge success.  I look great but the problem is that I don't feel great.  My blood work is consistently good except for a problem I have with iron absorption so I keep an eye on that to make sure that I don't become anemic.  My last blood work showed my count to be around 11.5 so this is fairly good and not far from normal.  I am about 10 pounds below where I feel at my best but can't put any weight on.  When I try to eat more I just develop diarrhea.  Actually, even when I don't eat more I have diarrhea and this is the reason I am seriously considering a partial reversal.  I am at the point where I dare not leave my house without plastic underwear on.  This is no way for a 42 year old woman to live.  I don't want to regain the weight so would not want to have anything done to my stomach pouch.  I just think that if I could have some of my small bowel reconnected (approx. 7 feet of small bowel was bypassed when I had my surgery) then I would not have so many problems with loose stools.  I  would be deeply greatful if anyone could tell me what they know about MGB reversals.  Feel free to write to me directly at [email protected]   THANK YOU!!!!

Topic: Any Surgeons in the State of WA that offer the MGB surgery
Hello everybody I am not new to the Obesityhelp.com website but I am "new" with MGB surgery page and I have a question.  Does the State of WA have any surgeons that offer the MGB?  How much does the MGB cost?  Our Military insurance (TRIWEST) may cover the MGB but we need to find a local surgeon, I planned on having the Lap RNY (only one they offer here at Madigan Army Hospital) but the complications are a little bit to risky and the recovery is very long and I need to be up and running in a short time since my husband is leaving for Iraq. THANKS, Sandy
