Ginny,  I don't know of any that do cover it, however Dr. Rutledge is now doing a "mini RNY" that he is accepting insurance for.

Hello, I am new here to the message board and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a surgeon who takes insurance for the Mini Gastric Bypass?..I am now in the phase of thinking about the Lap Band system..the Dr takes my insurance and I know it will be ok...I do not know why I am afraid of the full Gastric Bypass...any or all feedback, suggestions, anything would be super wonderful here...Thank You in Advance for any help!....Ginny.

The Stanford Surgery Center says that the stomach creates the hunger hormone(I forget the name of it) and once the stomach is disconnected there is no longer any hormone.  Sounds good to me.

Topic: RE: Who does this surgery and where?
Hi. I contacted Dr Walsh and Dasher's office.  I was told they did about 500 combined.  This worried me when I heard Dr. Rutledge did thousands. Your experience was good?  Which Dr. did your procedure? One of the drs is (was) a trauma specialist and the other is (waS) a cancer specialist. Cant decide where to have it done    I live in Maryland and could drive to NC Rochelle

Can you tell me where you had the surgery? There are so few places that do the MGB?  I live in Maryland.  Did you have a tough time with your insurance companies.  The places I've run across (CLOS) that do this surgery want the $17,000 upfront.  They call it "global fee." Your procedure went really smooh.

Topic: Inland Empire PCP
I was wondering if any of you were referred to Dr. R by a PCP in the inland empire area.  My medical group will only refer to two other surgeons and not to Dr. R.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Topic: Never hungry...is this normal?
I had my surgery on Jan 3rd and since coming home from the hospital, I have absolutely never once been hungry.  Is this normal?  I can smell food cooking and it smells good but it doesn't cause the old hunger bell to start ringing.  Has anyone else out there experienced this?  It is comforting right now, because it helps me to stay strong when I see things I cannot touch, but surely this doesn't last forever, does it?  It took me over an hour to eat 2 soft boiled eggs today, and I couldn't finish them.  This is my first attempt at soft solids and I am really amased at how little I can eat.  Comments? Suggestions?
