Topic: are there any surgeons who do the MBG or is it mainly in the states
Hello I am from Ontario Canada. I was originally going to get the lapband surgery. I have done a lot of research on it. I came across the MGB and it looks like the safer approach short and long term. Are there any surgeons who perform this in Canada? If I am to go to dr rutledge in the usa how do I go about starting the whole procedure?
Topic: RE: Why does MGB have a bad reputation?
The surgery is the same as the old Bilroth II, except that the loop of intestine is joined to the bottom of a longer pouch. The eary loop bypass had a smaller pouch with the loop joined towards the top of side of the pouch. This lead to pancreatic enzymes and bile to enter the esophogus area and cause serious complications. The surgery was abandoned as too risky even for the outcome of weightloss.
Dr Rutledge and a few others have started it up again, it's a fast surgery, and easy to preform. Dr Rutledge posts with great pride that he can finish the surgery in 35 minutes.

Topic: CLOS not winning my vote of confidence
I have posted FOUR times on the OSSG-MGB yahoo group. Only once did a post show up. I responded to a thread criticizing the poorly designed website and I was removed from the Yahoo group. What does that say? When an organization is so worried about bad press that they censor people critcizing the website? Come on people. That is NOT moderation. I in no way was bashing the website, I merely agreed that it was a shame the surgery doesn't get the proper recognition it deserves, due to the shabby presentation on CLOS.net.
If I they are willing the censor something as benign as this. What does that mean for people who post with problems or concerns or complications? Are they censored, too? If I as an interested prospective patient were to search "Complications" within that site, how would I know I would be seeing what has actually been posted?

Check out this link for a study done on revision of loop bypasses:

Well I think 100# sounds great. That's a huge amount of weight already gone. Your still losing, one pound a week right. Everybodys is different. I hope you see how successful your weight loss has been. Keep up the good work! Don't be so hard on yourself, sounds like you're doing great.
Topic: RE: Scared!
Laurel, I can really understand your fears. I work for a physician who performs Mini Gastric Bypass surgery. He has done hundreds of these surgeries. Most of our patients have the surgery one day and go home the same the next. Back to work or school in 2 or 3. Go to MGB-surgery.com for more information. I have really seen lives changed and health problems disappear. Carla will be more than happy to talk to you as long as you want and answer any questions you have! We care!
Topic: RE: What is Mini Gastric Bypass surgery?
Sandy, not all of these Doctors were trained by Dr. Rutlege. I personally work for a physician who does the MGB Surgery and trained several doctors himself both in Florida and Las Vegas. I have literally seen lives changed and health problems disappear. But it really seems unfair that Dr. Rutledge and CLOS is the only ones mentioned on this site. Go to MGB-Surgery.com. This is a Dr. who truly cares about his patients and will go the extra 10 miles or 100 miles to help someone.
Topic: RE: MGB in Michigan?
Check out Dr. Hargroder in Joplin, MO. Great Doc and has done hundreds of MGB's. You won't find a better one!
Topic: RE: Why does MGB have a bad reputation?
First of all, let me say that Dr. Rutledge is not the only surgeon doing this great procedure. I have seen hundreds of patients who have had this surgery performed by the physician I work for with minimal to no complications. I have seen lives changed. Health problems disappear. It is not even close to the old loop bypass.
Search further....I do hope the moderator will approve my post.
